The application provides in an aspect a process for producing urea in a urea plant comprising a high pressure synthesis section comprising a reactor, wherein the process comprises reacting NHfeed and COfeed under urea formation conditions in said reactor to form a urea synthesis solution comprising urea, water, carbamate and ammonia, wherein the process further comprises contacting a carbamate-containing liquid stream with an equipment part of said high pressure synthesis section that is made of a ferritic steel alloy.

Disclosed is a Hot Isostatic Pressed ferritic-austenitic steel alloy, as well objects thereof. The elementary composition of the alloy comprises, in percentages by weight: the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The objects can be particularly useful in making components for a urea production plant that require processing such as machining or drilling. A preferred use is in making, or replacing, liquid distributors as used in a stripper as is typically present in the high-pressure synthesis section of a urea plant.

The elementary composition of the alloy comprises, in percentages by weight: C 0-0.05; Si 0-0.8; Mn 0-4.0; Cr more than 29-35; Ni 3.0-10; Mo 0-4.0; N 0.30-0.55; Cu 0-0.8; W 0-3.0; S 0-0.03; Ce 0-0.2; the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The present application relates to a method of manufacturing a tube sheet () and heat exchanger assembly for a pool reactor or pool condenser for use in the production of urea from ammonia and carbon dioxide, wherein the method comprises manufacturing of the tube sheet () from a carbon steel material grade and providing said tube sheet () with corrosion protective layers () of an austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel grade, wherein the heat exchanger comprises at least one U-shaped tube () of an austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel grade, the method further comprises inserting at least two sleeves () of an austenitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel grade through the tube sheet () such that both ends of the sleeve () extend in a direction away from the tube sheet (), the method further comprises connecting the sleeves (), at least the opposing ends thereof, to at least the protective layers () of the tube sheet () and finally, connecting both ends of the at least one U-shaped tube () to the respective sleeves ().
