Systems and methods for retaining a card in an information handling system are disclosed. A retainer for use in an information handling system may include a body, at least one mounting feature coupled to the body, and a retention flange coupled to and protruding from the body. The at least one mounting feature may be configured to couple the retainer to a card. The retention flange may have a top edge configured to engage with a bottom edge of a retention ledge associated with a connector to secure the card to the connector. At a least a portion of the top edge of the retention flange of the retainer may be situated in a substantially non-parallel manner relative to the bottom edge of the retention ledge associated with the connector when the retention flange is engaged with the retention ledge.

System and method for retaining a card

A fan mounting apparatus includes a base having a fan support. An elongated handle extends from the base for positioning the base in a chassis. A securing member is located adjacent a distal end of the elongated handle for securing the base in a chassis. The fan mounting apparatus may be used to couple and secure a fan module in a channel defined by a chassis by using the elongated handle to position the fan module in the chassis and secure the fan module to the chassis.

Method and apparatus for mounting a fan in a chassis

A method and system for housing electronic components includes a chassis having a first sub-chassis slidably dockable into a first end of the chassis. The first sub-chassis houses a first set of electronic components and includes a backplane to electrically couple the first set of electronic components to a second set of electronic components located adjacent to the first sub-chassis. The second set of electronic components is housed in a second sub-chassis, which is accessible via a second end of the chassis. The backplane is accessible by slidably undocking the first sub-chassis without removal of any one of the second set of electronic components. Some of the second set of electronic components are accessible by slidably undocking the first sub-chassis and without removal of the backplane.

Tool-less, translating hard drive bay

A card retention system comprises a chassis and a bracket provided to secure to the chassis by a first retention member. The first retention member is selectively oriented in one of a first position and a second position. The first position limits lateral movement of the bracket. The second position limits lateral and vertical movement of the bracket. A second retention member may also be provided on the chassis to resiliently engage the bracket to limit vertical movement of the bracket on the chassis.

System and method for retaining cards in an information handling system

A motherboard is secured in a chassis by a spring loaded plunger. An anchor member is mounted in the chassis. The anchor member includes a ramp and a receiver. The motherboard has an opening formed therein. A first member is secured to the motherboard. A second member is resiliently mounted on the first member so that the second member extends through the opening. The motherboard is moved on the chassis so that the second member is moved in a first direction by engaging the ramp, and the resilient mounting of the second member urges the second member in a second direction into the receiver.

Spring loaded plunger for circuit board installation and removal

A heat sink is mounted on a chassis and a fan support is mounted for movement adjacent the heat sink member. A fan is mounted in the fan support. A first connector is connected to the fan. A second connector is connected to the chassis for aligned mating connection with the first connector. When the fan support is moved toward the chassis, the fan and first connector are moved to connect with the second connector.
