The disclosure is directed to a novel utility meter with an integrated backup power transfer system. In some embodiments, the system is capable of sensing and switching between multiple power sources. In some embodiments, the system is configured to supply power from multiple backup power sources in parallel. In some embodiments, the system is configured to record and/or transmit data usage and operational profiles, such as voltage and current from one or more power sources. In some embodiments, the system is configured to eliminate the need to install separate junction boxes or panels to meet the wire requirements of various municipalities.

Backup power transfer meter

Some embodiments include a metering system including a base housing configured to be coupled to a supply of a consumable, and including a plurality of meter slots, wherein each meter slot is configured to couple with a removeable meter module. Further, the metering system includes a removeable cover housing configured to removably couple to the base housing, and a meter module that includes at least one meter core and at least one data transfer functionality or assembly. The meter module can independently meter at least a portion of the consumable consumed by at least one consumer. A metering assembly with a removeable meter module and an associated meter slot can independently meter at least a portion of a consumable consumed by at least one consumer, and metering of the consumable to a consumer from one meter slot is independent of metering of the consumable from another meter slot.

Multi-purpose (multi-dwelling) electric metering system and method

Embodiments of the invention provide an electric meter assembly including a meter support platform or base able to reversibly electrically couple to a transformer providing inputs including an AC power supply, phase voltage, and/or a phase current. Output of the meter support platform or base can be DC power, AC phase voltage signals and/or AC phase current. Further, a removable or portable meter can couple to the meter support platform or base and to an electric meter system including a meter core coupled to a wireless transmitter, an antenna, an integrated power sensor, and data meter front end. The system includes a data manager configured for electric service analysis including energy usage, and/or interval temperature, phase voltage, current and phase angle in real time, electric energy kWh and kVARh values in a user-specified period, wrong meter base installation detection, physical location of the removable or portable meter, and tamper detection.

Smart energy and data/information metering system and method

Some embodiments include an electric meter assembly including a socket housing with a socket interface extending from a top side of the socket housing, and a removable or portable meter coupled to the socket interface. Further, the electric meter assembly includes at a strap coupled at one end to at least one side of the socket housing. The strap is configured and arranged to extend over at least a portion of the meter from one side of the socket to an opposite side of the socket. Some further embodiments include an electric meter assembly with a support platform including a coupled transformer and socket housing. The socket housing includes a socket interface extending from a top side of the socket housing, and a secondary housing enclosed within the socket housing. The secondary housing includes a CT shunt and a switch assembly including an actuator extending through the top side.
