An electrical make-break connection for an apparatus having a recoiling portion and a non-recoiling portion may include a non-recoiling assembly fixed to the non-recoiling portion and a recoiling assembly fixed to the recoiling portion. Each of the non-recoiling and recoiling assemblies may include a mounting bracket and an electrical contact assembly disposed in the mounting bracket. Each contact assembly may include one or more electrical conductors. The non-recoiling contact assembly may float in its mounting bracket. Part of the mating surface of the recoiling contact assembly may be more elastic than part of the mating surface of the non-recoiling contact assembly. Elastic deformation of the recoiling mating surface by the non-recoiling mating surface may provide a fluid seal for the make-break connection.

Fluid-isolating, self-aligning make-break electrical connection

An apparatus for retaining an object in a gun tube of a weapon system, the gun tube having a longitudinal axis, a chamber and a breech ring with an opening therein, the apparatus including a plunger that reciprocates in the opening in the breech ring and the chamber; a housing fixed in the opening in the breech ring, the housing holding the plunger; and means for reciprocating the plunger in the opening in the breech ring and the chamber. The object to be retained is propellant. The reciprocating means is automatically operated via electrical and/or mechanical connections to the weapon system.

Weapon system retention device

A lead slug is axially slidably mounted within a longitudinal cavity in the oring shaft of an automatically tuneable anti-vibration boring system. The lead slug is resiliently held in the longitudinal cavity by resilient spring members at its axial ends thereby permitting resonant axial vibration at a frequency determined by the mass of the lead slug and the spring constant of the resilient spring members. A vibration detector within the boring shaft transmits a vibration signal to a controller in response to a vibration of the boring system. The controller transmits a signal to a linear actuator which changes a preload on the resilient spring members, and thereby changes the resonant axial vibration frequency of the lead slug. The linear actuator moves toward or away from the lead slug until the lead slug, resonating at its resonant frequency, reduces the vibration of the boring system.
