Germicidal compositions and methods of using the same in the prevention and treatment of various hoof diseases are provided. The germicidal compositions generally comprise formic acid, at least one C2-C10 carboxylic acid, and one or more anionic surfactants, such as an &#x3b1;-olefin sulfonate. The germicidal compositions may be applied topically to the hooves of an animal through various means including the use of footbaths.

Germicidal compositions comprising carboxylic acid mixture and use as topical disinfectants

A liquid antimicrobial composition comprising an organic acid and one or more anionic surfactants is disclosed. In one embodiment, the organic acid is lactic acid and the anionic surfactant is sodium octane sulfonate. In a preferred embodiment, the antimicrobial solution is formulated as a teat dip for lactating animals, particularly cows. In other embodiments, the antimicrobial compositions may be used in personal care, hard surface care including hard surface disinfection in households, food processing, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, showers, or topically as hand soaps, surgical scrubs, and hoof disease mitigators.

Antimicrobial compositions and related methods

Germicidal compositions containing one or more N,N-bis(3-aminopropyl) C-Calkyl amines, such as N,N-bis(3-aminopropyl)dodecylamine, and methods of using the compositions for treatment or prevention of infectious hoof diseases are disclosed. The germicidal compositions remain active in the presence of manure, which eliminates the need to pre-clean the hooves before use, and have particular utility for treating or preventing papillomatous digital dermatitis, interdigital phlegmon, interdigital dermatitis, laminitis, white line disease, heel erosion and other hoof diseases.

Compositions for the treatment of hoof diseases

Germicidal compositions containing at least one carboxylic acid combined with at least one nonionic or anionic surfactant, and methods of using the compositions for treatment or prevention of infectious hoof diseases are disclosed. The germicidal compositions remain active in the presence of manure, which eliminates the need to pre-clean the hooves before use. The compositions have particular utility for treating or preventing papillomatous digital dermatitis, interdigital phlegmon, interdigital dermatitis, laminitis, white line disease, heel erosion and other hoof diseases.
