A molding apparatus for making a continuous molded article generally includes a pair of spaced-apart molding assemblies, which cooperatively generate a movable mold having a dynamic mold-cavity therein, each of the molding assemblies including a series of movable mold segments, which are adapted to fit together to form a portion of the dynamic mold-cavity, a drive mechanism for conveying the mold segments along a path, and a dispenser for dispensing a moldable, expandable material into the dynamic mold-cavity.

Molding apparatus and method

A molding apparatus for making a continuous molded article or continuous series of molded articles generally includes a pair of spaced-apart molding assemblies, which cooperatively generate a movable mold having a dynamic mold-cavity therein, each of the molding assemblies including a series of movable mold segments, which are adapted to fit together to form a portion of the dynamic mold-cavity, a drive mechanism for conveying the mold segments along a path, and a dispenser for dispensing a moldable, expandable material into the dynamic mold-cavity.

A device for rotating a web material roll supported on a reel shaft having a pair of ends. The rotating device includes a female drive member coupled to one end of the reel shaft and defining an opening having a non-circular perimeter, such as a square opening. Also included is a male drive device having a rotatably powered drive shaft having an end that is congruent to the non-circular perimeter of the opening in the female drive member. The non-circular perimeter allows the reel shaft, and web material roll, to be positively rotated during unwinding. A telescoping assembly of the male drive device is capable of extending the drive shaft into the opening so as to allow co-rotation of the shaft and female member. An optional roll supporting cart may be employed to rotatably support the web material roll when aligning the male and female drive members.

Apparatus and method for coupling and driving a reel shaft

An apparatus and method for producing protective packaging. The apparatus includes an article delivery means for delivering an article between a pair of continuous webs to a pouch forming section. A pouch forming section having guide means for forming a parallelogram shaped pouch around the article to be packaged and means to heat seal the lateral edges. The device further includes means to seal the ends of the pouch and separate the sealed packages.

Apparatus and method for forming protective packages

An apparatus and method for cutting continuous webs having varying thicknesses, widths, and compositions into sheets. The apparatus includes a pair of oppositely rotating web feed assemblies employing a unique floating nip and clamping mechanism which engages the web and advances it a specified length past a poised cutting blade assembly and onto a simultaneously driven exit assembly. After the desired length of web has been fed, the drive mechanisms stop, and the cutting blade assembly cycles to clamp the web on the upstream side and cut. During the cutting stroke the web is held taut on the downstream side by the web feed assemblies. Upon completion of the clamping and cutting stroke, the cutting blade assembly returns and stops at its poised position.
