Systems and methods for navigation and simulation of minimally invasive therapy

A support stand for supporting a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner while in operation. A MRI scanner includes a cylindrical housing having a lateral surface extending parallel to a horizontal patient bore to encapsulate a main cylindrical magnet. The cylindrical housing defines a longitudinal footprint dimension and a lateral footprint dimension. The support stand includes a base and a plurality of pillars extending upright from the base. Each respective pillar includes a first end mounted to the base and an opposing second end. The support stand also includes a vibration isolator mounted at the second end of the respective pillars to support the lateral surface of the cylindrical housing. The respective vibration isolators minimize transmission of environment borne vibrations to the MRI scanner or minimize transmission of MRI scanner generated vibrations to the environment.

Systems and methods are provided in which local tissue diagnostic measurements are correlated with archival local tissue diagnostic data from prior tissue analyses to supplement diagnostic measurements with tissue analysis data from prior tissue analyses having similar local tissue diagnostic data. Systems and methods are provided in which devices that are employed during a medical procedure are adaptively configured during the medical procedure, based on input or feedback that is associated with the current state, phase or context of the medical procedure. In some example embodiments, the input is obtained via the identification of one or more medical instruments present within a region of interest, and this input may be employed to determine configuration parameters for configuring the device. In other example embodiments, the input may be based on the image-based detection of a measure associated with the phase or context of the medical procedure, and this input may be employed to adaptively control the device based on the inferred context or phase of the medical procedure. In other embodiments, images from one imaging modality may be employed to adaptively switch to another imaging modality.

Context aware surgical systems and methods via hyperspectral image analysis to configure a device during medical procedure

Insertable imaging devices and use methods thereof in minimally invasive medical procedures. Some insertable imaging devices are introduced and removed from an access port without disturbing or risking damage to internal tissue. Some insertable imaging devices are integrated with an access port, thereby allowing imaging of internal tissues within a vicinity of the access port, while enabling manipulation of surgical tools in the surgical field of interest. Some insertable imaging devices are integrated into an imaging sleeve that is insertable into an access port. Some insertable imaging devices perform imaging within an access port, wherein the imaging is based on one or more imaging modalities, including, but are not limited to, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, optical imaging, such as hyperspectral imaging and optical coherence tomography, and electrical conductive measurements.

Insert imaging device for surgical procedures

System and methods are provided for adaptively and intraoperatively configuring an automated arm used during a medical procedure. The automated arm is configured to position and orient an end effector on the automated arm a desired distance and orientation from a target. The end effector may be an external video scope and the target may be a surgical port. The positions and orientations of the end effector and the target may be continuously updated. The position of the arm may be moved to new locations responsive to user commands. The automated arm may include a multi-joint arm attached to a weighted frame. The weighted frame may include a tower and a supporting beam.

Intelligent positioning system and methods therefor

A method of data acquisition at a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system is provided. The system receives at least a portion of raw data for an image, and detects anomalies in the portion of raw data received. When anomalies are detected, the system can correct those anomalies dynamically, without waiting for a new scan to be ordered. The system can attempt to scan the offending portion of the raw data, either upon detection of the anomaly or at some point during the scan. The system can also correct anomalies using digital correction methods based on expected values. The anomalies can be detected based on variations from thresholds, masks and expected values all of which can be obtained using one of the ongoing scan, previously performed scans and apriori information relating to the type of scan being performed.

A medical navigation system is provided. The medical navigation system includes a computing device having a processor coupled to a memory, a wireless communication component and a display for displaying an image. The medical navigation system further includes a sensor module attached to a medical device. The sensor module includes a housing for housing components of the sensor module and for attaching to the medical device, a processor housed in the housing, a memory coupled to the processor, a wireless communication component coupled to the processor, a battery coupled to the processor, and a sensor coupled to the processor. The sensor generates a signal to be transmitted wirelessly via the sensor module wireless communication component and receivable by the computing device wireless communication component, the signal representing movement of the medical device.

Sensor based tracking tool for medical components

A method of automatically evaluating resection accuracy, is provided. The method includes preoperatively obtaining a first image of a volume of patient tissue using an imaging modality configured according to a scanning parameter, and storing the scanning parameter. An identifier of a target region corresponding to a target portion of the volume is received and stored in association with the first image. A second image is obtained of a resected tissue sample from the volume, using the imaging modality configured according to the scanning parameter. Based on a comparison of the first image and the second image, a determination is made whether the entire target region is represented in the second image. The method includes controlling an output device to present an indication, based on the determination, of whether the tissue sample contains the entire target portion.

Method, system and apparatus for automatically evaluating resection accuracy

Insertable imaging devices, and methods of use thereof in minimally invasive medical procedures, are described. In some embodiments, insertable imaging devices are described that can be introduced and removed from an access port without disturbing or risking damage to internal tissue. In some embodiments, imaging devices are integrated into an access port, thereby allowing imaging of internal tissues within the vicinity of the access port, while, for example, enabling manipulation of surgical tools in the surgical field of interest.
