An inhaler with an inner housing with a pressurised reservoir of an inhalable composition. A breath operated valve is operable by a user inhaling on an inhaling end of the inhaler. A composition flow path extends from the breath operated valve to the inhaling end via which the composition is dispensed when the breath operated valve is opened. The breath operated valve is biased closed by a biasing member contacting the breath operated valve at one end. A bung in the inner housing is positioned in an opening in the inner housing to support the end of the biasing member opposite to the breath operated valve. A rigid outer housing surrounds the inner housing and supports the bung.

An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition. A valve element moved by a flexible diaphragm and biased into a position in which it closes a composition flow path from a reservoir. A first air flow path is partly defined by one side of the diaphragm and a second air flow path is partly defined by the opposite side of the diaphragm. Each flow path has an outlet opening at an outlet end and the second flow path has an inlet upstream of the outlet end. The air flow paths are arranged such that suction at the outlet end causes a reduction in pressure in the first air flow path relative to the pressure in the second air flow path creating a pressure differential across the diaphragm that moves the valve element against the biasing force to open the composition flow path.

A simulated cigarette having a generally cylindrical cigarette like housing with a main axis, the housing containing a reservoir of a pressurised inhalable composition. The reservoir has a reservoir outlet at one end which is selectively closed by an outlet valve. The simulated cigarette further comprises a tube with a through bore extending along a substantial portion of the reservoir from the vicinity of the reservoir outlet such that composition flows into a tube bore inlet and along the tube bore to the reservoir outlet. The tube inlet end is retained such that the axis passes through the inlet end and so that the tube bore inlet is positioned in the axial sense in the central 50% of the volume of the reservoir.

Simulated cigarette

A combination of an inhaler and a refill pack. The inhaler comprises a reservoir for an inhalable composition, a heating element and/or vibrating transducer to selectively volatilise at least some components of the composition and at least one inhaler capacitor arranged to supply electrical power to the heater and/or vibrating transducer when a user inhales from the inhaler. The refill pack comprises a refill reservoir of inhalable composition and a battery coupled to a refill capacitor, and is arranged to engage with the inhaler and to simultaneously refill the reservoir and recharge the inhaler capacitor from the refill capacitor. The invention also extends to the inhaler and refill pack separately and to a method of refilling and recharging the inhaler.

An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition with an outlet at one end through which the inhalable composition is discharged. A non-metered breath-activated valve is provided between the one end and the reservoir, the breath-activated valve comprising a flow path extending from the reservoir to the outlet end. At least a portion of the flow path is a deformable tube. A clamping member pinches the deformable tube closed when no suction force is applied to the device and releases the tube to open the flow path when suction is applied at the outlet, to provide uninterrupted flow from the reservoir to the outlet.

An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition. A housing contains the reservoir and has an outlet end and an opposite end. A composition flow path for the flow of the composition extends from the reservoir along the flow path and out of a composition outlet at the outlet end of the housing. A flexible diaphragm within the housing defines an air flow path from an air inlet to an air outlet at the outlet end of the housing, the diaphragm extending past the air flow inlet towards the opposite end separating the air flow path on one side of the diaphragm from the remainder of the housing on the opposite side of the diaphragm. A valve element is movable with the diaphragm and biased by a biasing force into a position in which it closes the composition flow path, wherein suction on the outlet end reduces the pressure in the air flow chamber thereby lifting the valve element against the biasing force to open the composition flow path; and wherein the biasing force is arranged to close the composition flow path once the suction ceases.

An inhaler comprising a source of inhalable composition. An outlet flow path is provided for the composition from the source to a composition outlet at an outlet end of the inhaler. Means are provided to generate a flow of composition from the source along the outlet flow path and out of the composition outlet when suction is applied to the outlet end. A pair of air outlets at the outlet end are arranged on opposite sides of the composition outlet through which air is drawn in respective air jets when suction is applied to the outlet end. The composition and air outlets are arranged such that, in use, the pair of air jets impinge on the composition plume.

An inhalable composition for use as a medicament in the treatment of a subject wherein said composition comprises: one or more cannabinoids or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative or salt thereof; a propellant; a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol; and a glycol and/or glycol ether, characterized in that the ratio of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol to glycol or glycol ether by weight is from 6:1 to 1:1, wherein the composition is administered in the form of an aerosol having a fine particle fraction of 60% or more.

A simulated smoking device () comprising a simulated cigarette having a substantially cylindrical cigarette-like shape and a refill device () having a substantially cuboid housing with a cigarette pack-like shape containing refill gas () for the simulated cigarette and having means for selectively retaining the simulated cigarette. The simulated cigarette may be retained wholly within the housing. It may be retained at a location different from the refill location. A dose counter may be provided to give a visual indication of the doses in the refill device.

A pressurized refill canister containing a reservoir of composition including a propellant and a nicotine or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative or salt thereof. The reservoir is at a pressure of greater than 400 kPa at 20&#xb0; C. A refill outlet valve comprises a stem with an axial bore open at the axial end furthest from the reservoir to provide an outlet which discharges the composition in an axial direction. The stem is displaceable from a closed position to which it is biased by a first resilient member with a spring force of greater than 10N when no external force is applied to a dispensing position against the action of the first resilient member to open a flow path from the reservoir to the outlet.

An inhaler comprising a reservoir of an inhalable composition, a heater to selectably volatilize at least some components of the composition, and a power source arranged to selectively supply electrical power to the heater when the user inhales from the inhaler. The power source is arranged to heat the heater to a temperature that will volatilize some, but not all of the components of the composition.

A pressurized refill canister containing a composition including a propellant. The canister has an outlet valve having a stem biased to a closed position by a first resilient member. The stem has a maximum outer diameter of greater than 3 mm. At the outlet end of the stem, at least part of the wall of the stem extends inwardly from the outside diameter for at least 50% of the radius.
