As may be implemented consistent with one or more aspects characterized herein, a preamble section () of a currently-received message () is used in decoding a previously-received message (), for wireless transmissions from a wireless transmitter () on a wireless communications channel (). A method and apparatus are provided in which receiver circuitry and signal processing circuitry may reside. The receiver circuitry receives a FMCW radar signal having a content signal (e.g., a random or information signal) embedded into a radar waveform and indicating a relationship in the FMCW radar signal between beat frequency and time delay. The signal processing circuitry may apply a filter (e.g., filtering with a group delay that approximates or relates to the relationship) that causes a residual error in, due to dispersion of, the content signal, and may account for (e.g., mitigate) the residual error by introduction of a dispersion-related function in further processing of the content signal.

In connection with an RF communication system, exemplary aspects involve a method for use in a communication system in which a first system (e.g., 802.11) that is asynchronously based and which is susceptible to interference from a second system (e.g., synchronous-based LTE-CV2X). Such interference is due to the frequency spectrum used by the first and second systems overlapping. To mitigate interference issues, example methods spreads out the times for messages in the first system, based on information concerning occupancy of the channel, and transmitting them relative to the end of a cycled transmission allocated for use by the second system.

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to use with communications that may involve repetitive communications. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a subset of symbols in a current data message () are used with a corresponding subset of symbols in a previous data message (), to ascertain whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This may involve, for instance, generating a resemblance metric to represent semblance between a subset the data symbols of the current data message and a subset the data symbols of the previous data message (). The resemblance metric can be used in determining whether the current data message is a repetition of the previous data message. This approach may be useful, for example, in ascertaining whether the current message is a repetition without necessarily decoding the message.

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to radar signaling utilizing a non-uniform multi input/multi output (MIMO) antenna array including first and second uniform MIMO antenna arrays respectively having both sparsely-arranged transmitting antennas and sparsely-arranged receiving antennas. Communication circuitry is configured to determine a direction of arrival of reflections of radar signals transmitted by the transmitting antennas and received by the receiving antennas, by comparing the reflections received by the first MIMO array with the reflections received by the second MIMO array during a common time period (e.g., at the same time). The invention relates to an operational state determination apparatus () for determining whether a variation in a determined electrical parameter of an electrical network () is caused by a variation in an operational state of an electrical consumer of the electrical network. The electrical network comprises multiple electrical consumers () and a voltage source (), wherein a variation classification unit () determines whether a variation in the determined electrical parameter of the electrical network is caused by a variation in the operational state of an electrical consumer of the network depending on a decision variable which depends on a variation in a measured voltage and a variation in a measured current of the electrical network. This determination can be performed, without directly using the variation in the determined electrical parameter of the electrical network and is therefore less influenced by random voltage fluctuations in the electrical network.

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to methods and apparatuses for wireless vehicular communications involving the transmission of messages using two or more protocols. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments characterized herein, wireless station-to-station communications are carried out in which a plurality of stations share a wireless communications channel. Information is wirelessly collected respectively from transmissions associated with a legacy communication protocol and another type of communication protocol. A current communication environment of the station is dynamically discerned and characterizes a dynamic relationship of the collected information using the legacy communication protocol relative to the collected information using the other communication protocol. Communications are wirelessly transmitted over the wireless communications channel using the legacy and other communication protocols, by allocating usage of the channel through transmissions of data, via the legacy communication protocol and via the other communication protocol, based on the dynamic relationship.

A first-transceiver for use in an antenna diversity scheme. The first-transceiver comprises a first-time/clock-generation-unit; a first-receiver; and a first-transmitter. Embodiments are directed to methods and apparatuses for wireless vehicular communications involving retransmission of messages. A method for communicating by vehicular communications circuitry of a device includes, in a wireless communications network in which a message is broadcasted by vehicular communications circuitry of a device for asynchronous receptions by other circuitry in one or more devices configured to wirelessly communicate according to a communications protocol, monitoring a channel busy ratio associated with channels in a designated range of frequency pertaining to the wireless communications network. The method further includes assessing whether to retransmit the message as a function of the channel busy ratio, and in response to the channel busy ratio being outside a threshold, retransmitting the message according to the communications protocol.
