A system and method of determining system status in a vehicle system. The method including collecting, by a computing system, a plurality of data associated with a test specimen and the vehicle system, selecting a relevant data set of the plurality of data, the selecting based on at least one correlation coefficient associated with the plurality of data, and transforming at least a portion of the selected relevant data to form a transformed data set, the transforming based on mathematical properties. The method also includes collecting statistics associated with the selected relevant data set and the transformed data set to form a statistics data set, classifying the selected relevant data set, transformed data set, and the statistics data set; and predicting a status of a system based on the classifying.

Method and system for predicting system status

Technical solutions are described for selective catalytic reduction diagnosis in an emissions control system or an exhaust system used for treating exhaust gas, such as in a motor vehicle including an internal combustion engine. An example emissions control system includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device. The emissions control system further includes a controller that is performs SCR fault diagnosis. The SCR fault diagnosis includes computing a plurality of estimated NH3 storage capacity values (&#x398;) of an SCR catalyst of the SCR device. The diagnosis further includes determining a diagnostic parameter of the SCR device using the plurality of estimated NH3 storage capacity values.

Selective catalytic reduction fault detection

An aftertreatment assembly includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) device having a catalyst and configured to receive an exhaust gas. A controller is operatively connected to the SCR device. The controller having a processor and a tangible, non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for executing a method of model-based monitoring of the SCR device. The method relies on a physics-based model that may be implemented in a variety of forms. The controller is configured to obtain at least one estimated parameter, and at least one threshold parameter based at least partially on a catalyst degradation model. The catalyst degradation model is based at least partially on a predetermined threshold storage capacity (&#x398;). A catalyst status is determined based on a comparison of the estimated and threshold parameters. The operation of the assembly is controlled based at least partially on the catalyst status.

Model-based monitoring for selective catalytic reduction device in aftertreatment assembly

A method is provided to operate a diesel particulate filter of a Diesel engine equipped with a soot-sensor located in an outlet of the diesel particulate filter, the soot-sensor operating according to a succession of soot loading phases mutually separated by a regeneration phase. The method includes, but is not limited to setting a borderline value of the efficiency of the diesel particulate filter, resetting a value of a counter, during a regeneration phase of the soot-sensor, this value representing a soot loading level of the soot-sensor, iteratively increasing the value of this counter, during a next soot loading phase of the soot-sensor, at least until the value reaches a predetermined threshold value of the counter, and detecting an unsuited efficiency of the diesel particulate filter, if a next regeneration phase of the soot-sensor begins when the value of the counter is below the predetermined threshold value of the counter.
