A laundry treatment apparatus, in particular a dryer or a washing machine having a dryer function, and a method for operating the apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus includes a laundry treatment chamber () for treating laundry using process air (A), a blower () for circulating the process air (A) within the laundry treatment chamber (); and at least one temperature sensor (). The method includes: detecting by said at least one temperature sensor () at least one temperature signal indicative of the ambient temperature of the laundry treatment apparatus, selecting a predetermined speed profile for operating the laundry treatment chamber () or the blower () in dependency of the at least one temperature signal detected by said at least one temperature sensor (), and starting to operate the laundry treatment chamber () or the blower () in a laundry drying cycle by applying or executing the selected predetermined speed profile to the laundry treatment chamber () or to the blower () during the drying cycle in dependency of the at least one detected temperature signal.

A laundry treating machine includes a basement portion () having an upper side () with seats (A-F) formed thereon for receiving machine operational devices (), and a lower side (), opposite to the upper side (). The lower side () forms an air path for air to be admitted into or exhausted from the machine.

A laundry dryer has a casing () accommodating therein a drying air circuit and operational devices for carrying out a drying treatment on laundry. The dryer further includes a basement () having a condensate draining path () for conveying moisture condensed from drying air towards a reservoir (). At least one condensate retaining region (A,B;A,B) is provided in the condensate draining path () and/or on reservoir () thereby forming a liquid trap for preventing drying air dispersing along path () from entering reservoir ().

A laundry treating machine includes a casing () accommodating therein a laundry container () and a basement portion (). The basement portion () has seats (A-F) adapted to receive machine operational devices () and further provides at least one air path. The at least one air path extends over two levels of the basement () at different height, and a conveyor () is provided for reversing the air path from one of the levels to the other.

A circular sealing gasket can be interposed between a rear rim of a laundry dryer drum tubular body and a rear wall of the dryer casing. The laundry dryer may also comprise a substantially circular, basin-shaped lid or cover fixed to the rear wall, substantially coaxial to the tubular body, so as to form a cavity on the rear wall that communicates with a hot-air generator. A circular gasket-supporting collar may have a nominal diameter greater than that of the tubular body rear rim. The collar may be fixed to the periphery of the basin-shaped lid or cover and/or to the rear wall, coaxial to the tubular body. The circular sealing gasket can be force fitted into the gasket-supporting collar so as to come in abutment against a periphery of the basin-shaped lid or cover around the perimeter thereof.

An upper cabinet of a rotary-drum laundry dryer outer casing can include a rear wall. The rear wall can include a sink-shaped bulge or recess. The bulge or recess can project outwards of the upper cabinet, be roughly centered to a rear rim of a dryer drum, and include a through opening. The upper cabinet can also include a substantially circular, basin-shaped lid or cover fixed to the inner face of the cabinet rear wall substantially coaxial to the drum. The lid or cover can be shaped so as to completely cover and close the outwards-projecting bulge or recess on the cabinet rear wall. This can form, on that rear wall, a cavity which communicates with the inside of drum and also with a hot-air generator via the through opening.
