An automotive lighting unit wherein the lighting assembly that backlights the front half-shell comprises: at least one light-guide body made of photoconductive material, which is placed inside the rear body and is structured to channel, by total internal reflection and towards said transparent or semi-transparent portion of the front half-shell, the light that enters into the light-guide body through a light-incoupling end or sidewall of the same light-guide body; an active light deflector device which is placed inside the rear body, facing the light-incoupling end or sidewall of said light-guide body; and an electrically-powered light source which is placed inside the rear body and emits, on command, a collimated light beam towards the active light deflector device; the active light deflector device being adapted to reflect/divert said collimated light beam towards the light-incoupling end or sidewall of said light-guide body, so that the collimated light beam can enter into the light-guide body and then travel inside the light-guide body by total internal reflection.

Automotive lighting unit

A vehicle light comprising a container body and a lenticular body joined at least partially to close the container body, wherein the container body delimits a containment seat housing at least one light source that faces at least one light guide having a light guide body shaped to receive the light beam from a light input wall, and to transmit it to a light output wall and from this to a main light emission portion of the lenticular body. At least first extractor elements are placed between the light input wall and the light output wall, which extract a first extracted portion of the light beam emitted by the light source and direct it onto first reflecting elements separate from the light guide. The first reflecting elements reflect the first extracted portion towards the lenticular body at a first auxiliary light emission portion, separate from said main emission portion.

Vehicle light with portions at different luminance levels

An automotive light is provided that includes a light-guide plate extending inside the rear body of the light remaining substantially parallel to the light reference optical axis close up to the front lenticular hemi-shell of the light with its front side edge facing the strip-shaped transparent or semi-transparent portion of the front lenticular hemi-shell, and a linear-extending light source directing emitted light towards the inside of the light-guide plate through the rear side edge of the same light-guide plate. The rear side edge of the light-guide plate includes a serrated profile with teeth substantially triangular in shape oriented so that a first inclined edge of the tooth is arranged locally substantially perpendicular to the optical reference axis. The light source includes a row of spaced LEDs facing the rear side edge, each LED facing a respective tooth of the rear side edge so as to direct/project emitted light through the first inclined edge of the tooth. The lighting assembly also includes a series of optical collimators interposed between a diode and a corresponding tooth of the rear side edge of the light-guide plate to deflect light rays towards the corresponding inclined edge of the tooth and collimating the rays in a direction substantially parallel to a collimation axis substantially coplanar to the light-guide plate and inclined with respect to the optical reference axis of the light by greater than 0&#xb0;.

A method of manufacturing an automotive light including the steps of: providing a container body delimited by a first perimetral profile; providing a lenticular body delimited by a second perimetral profile; associating the profiles, with a contact surface therebetween defining a welding interface; providing a laser emission device emitting radiation, operatively connected to a first light guide with an output to distribute radiation via a spatial distribution including with lobes; providing a second light guide inside the lenticular body adapted to obtain a light guide of radiation inside the lenticular body, having walls defined by a first lobe; arranging the guides to route a first lobe of radiation from the output towards the second guide, to propagate at least one lobe of radiation inside the second light guide towards the welding interface; wherein the container body acts as an absorbing member and the lenticular body acts as a transmissive member.

Method of laser welding of an automotive light and relative automotive light

A method of manufacturing an automotive light including the steps of: providing at least one laser diode emitting a light beam with a characteristic emission spectrum; providing a container body delimited by a first perimetral profile; providing a molded lenticular body delimited by a second perimetral profile and having at least first and second overlapping integral layers with different transmittance values in relation to the laser emission spectrum; at least partially associating the perimetral profiles; and at least partially welding at the perimetral profiles with the laser, wherein the laser beam is routed towards the perimetral profiles so as to reach the first perimetral profile after passing through at least one of the layers of the lenticular body, and wherein the container body acts as an absorbing member in relation to the light beam and the lenticular body acts as a transmissive member of the light beam.
