A method for controlling the operation of an electronic converter (), comprising a power output () for providing a power supply signal () for a light source (L), wherein said light source (L) is coupled to an identification element () which identifies at least one control parameter of said light source (L), and a data line () for connection to said identification element (), wherein said method comprises: detecting () the value of the voltage on said data line; (), comparing () the detected value of said voltage with at least a first and a second range of values; (), and a) determining said at least one control parameter as a function of the detected voltage () on said data line (), if the detected voltage is within the first range (), or b) communicating () with said identification element () by means of a digital communication protocol in order to receive said at least one control parameter from said identification element () if the detected voltage is within the second range ().

Method for controlling the operation of an electronic converter, and a corresponding electronic converter, lighting system and software product

A housing for electrical components is provided. The housing may include a mouth portion to cooperate with a circuit board in an assembled condition wherein said circuit board is applied against said mouth portion of the housing. The housing may include at least one spring formation located at said mouth portion to cooperate with said circuit board to elastically urge said circuit board away from said mouth portion, and at least one hook-like formation extending from said mouth portion distally of said housing, said hook-like formation adapted to cooperate with said circuit board to retain said circuit board assembled to said housing against the force exerted by said spring formation.

A driver device may include a driver transistor providing a regulated current; and a stabilization circuit to produce a stabilized reference voltage to be applied to said driver transistor. The stabilization circuit may include: first and second bipolar stabilization transistors; a voltage divider including a first resistance and a second resistance, said voltage divider being interposed between the bases of said first and said second transistors, with the first resistor connected between the base of said second transistor and said partition point of said voltage divider and the partition point acting on the base of the first transistor; and a polarization network to determine the base-emitter voltages of said first and said second stabilization transistors, wherein: said first resistance has a value lower than the value of said second resistance, and the base-emitter voltage of said first transistor is higher than the base-emitter voltage of said second transistor.

A lighting device has multiple light sources each having a primary optics; and a secondary optics for the multiple light sources; such that at the secondary optics the radiation patterns emitted from the multiple light sources have a substantially uniform luminance; and such that the secondary optics transforms the radiation pattern from the multiple light sources into an elliptical spot of light of substantially uniform luminance.

The lighting device has a stack of functional layers that in turn have at least: an optics layer with at least one optical element; a light source layer with at least one light source that is adapted to radiate light through the optics layer to an exterior; a printed circuit board connected to an electronic driver to drive the lighting device; and a cooling layer with at least one cooling element for cooling at least the at least one light source.

A cooling apparatus has a heat sink thermally connectable to a heat source an air outlet opening at least two air intake openings, and a fan adapted to draw in air into the cooling apparatus through the air intake openings and to discharge the air from the cooling apparatus through the air outlet opening, wherein, upon operation of said fan, an air flow from at least one of the air intake openings forces an air flow from at least another one of the air intake openings to the heat sink.
