The present invention relates to an improved method of providing identification of a user or authentication of a user's identity. More particularly, the present invention relates to an improved method of providing identification of a user or authentication of a user's identity using conditional behavioural biometrics. The present invention seeks to provide an enhanced method of authenticating and/or identifying a user identity using conditional behavioural biometrics. According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of generating a user profile for use in identifying and/or authenticating a user on a device, the device equipped with one or more sensors, the method comprising: generating a set of data points from sensory data collected by the one or more sensors; clustering the set of data points to produce a set of data clusters; developing a first classifier for the data clusters, the first classifier being operable to assign a further data point derived from a further user interaction with the computing device to one of the data clusters; and developing one or more further classifiers for at least one of the data clusters, the further classifier operable to identify and/or authenticate a user identity based on the further data point.

System, device, and method of generating and utilizing one-time passwords. A method generates a particular One-Time Password (OTP) string that is based on pre-defined OTP string construction rules. The particular OTP string is not a purely-random string; rather, the particular non-purely-random OTP string provides to a behavioral monitoring unit a capability to extract user-specific behavioral typing patterns from a way in which a user types characters of the particular OTP via a keyboard of an electronic device. The method sends the particular OTP string to the user; monitors the way that the user types the OTP string; extracts from the user interactions, that were performed while the user entered the OTP string, a user-specific behavioral typing characteristic; and based on that user-specific characteristic, determines whether that user is authenticated or non-authenticated, and optionally activates fraud mitigation operations or transaction blocking operations if the user is non-authenticated.

A method for identifying and/or authenticating a user on a device, the method comprising: requesting identification or authentication of the user for a first task; determining a first threshold in dependence on the first task; selecting a first authentication process from a plurality of authentication processes; determining a confidence score in dependence on a performance of the selected first authentication process, wherein the confidence score indicates a level of confidence in the user's identity; determining whether the confidence score is above or below the first threshold; and if the confidence score is below the first threshold, selecting a second authentication process from the plurality of authentication processes, otherwise identifying or authenticating the user for the first task.
