The invention relates to microwave technology and can be used in measuring technology and wireless communication. The technical result is a waveguide-to-microstrip transition which provides reduced signal transmission losses and increased working bandwidth together with a low wave reflection coefficient. A contacting metal layer is arranged on an upper surface of a dielectric circuit board around a micro-strip probe, without electrical contact with the micro-strip probe and a micro-strip transmission line and forming an internal area on the dielectric circuit boar being a waveguide channel area. A closed waveguide section having a slot in the area of the microstrip transmission line is arranged on the contacting metal layer. At least one metallized transition through-hole is formed along a perimeter around the area of the waveguide channel in the metal layers and in the dielectric circuit board, and at least one non-metallized through-hole is formed inside the waveguide channel area.

A planar orthomode transducer comprises a substrate integrated resonator, two substrate integrated waveguides connected to the substrate integrated resonator, a dual polarized metal waveguide and a printed circuit board where the substrate integrated resonator and the substrate integrated waveguides are provided, wherein the substrate integrated resonator further comprises a slot aperture in one of metallization layers, and the dual polarized metal waveguide is mounted on a surface of the printed circuit board in an area of the slot aperture of the substrate integrated resonator, wherein the substrate integrated resonator is a nonfundamental orthogonal mode resonator. This enables widening of frequency band of the planar orthomode transducer, reducing of insertion losses, rise of the polarization diversity and providing for a standard dual polarized output waveguide serving for connecting the device with an antenna of various types.

Microwave communication apparatus with multi-channel radio frequency module and continuous beam scanning and method for electronic beam scanning

The present invention is related to means for elimination of antenna orientation errors in millimeter wave point-to-point communication systems with beam steerable antennas. The advantage of the proposed method consists in accelerating antenna angular orientation adjustment for two connected transceivers. The advantage is achieved via determination of a value and a direction of an antenna orientation error and its further fast mechanical elimination. The method assumes transmission of radio signals and reception of them with measurement of the received signal powers. Determination of a direction and a value of an orientation error of the first transceiver antenna is achieved via measurement of the powers of signals transmitted by this antenna using different radiation patterns. Determination of a direction and a value of an orientation error of the second transceiver antenna is achieved via measurement of the powers of signals received by this antenna using different radiation patterns.

Method for elimination of antenna angular orientation error in point-to-point communication system

Disclosed is a lens antenna comprising a dielectric lens consisting of a collimating part and an extension part, and an antenna element. The extension part of the lens comprises a substantially flat surface crossed by the axis of the collimating part, and the antenna element is rigidly fixed on the surface. The antenna element is formed by a hollow waveguide and comprises a dielectric insert with one end thereof adjacent to said surface; the size of the radiating opening of the waveguide is determined by the predefined width of the main beam and by side lobe levels of the radiation pattern of the lens antenna. The technical result of the invention is an increase in realized gain value due to the use of a waveguide antenna element with a dielectric insert, which provides impedance matching in a wide frequency bandwidth. The present invention can be used in radio-relay point-to-point communication systems, e.g. for forming backhaul networks of cellular mobile communication, in car radars and other radars, in microwave RF tags, in local and personal communication systems, in satellite and intersatellite communication systems, etc.

Disclosed is a beam steerable communication apparatus comprising a focusing element with a focal plane, a plurality of antenna elements disposed on the focal plane of the focusing element, a beamforming network which has a plurality of antenna ports and a plurality of beamforming ports, at least one radio frequency transceiver capable to control the phase of carrier frequency signals on its independent outputs, and a baseband modem, wherein each antenna port of the beamforming network is coupled to at least one antenna element, each beamforming port of the beamforming network is coupled to an independent transceiver output, and the phase distribution law formed on the beamforming ports is determined by a baseband modem control commands to the transceivers, said phase distribution law is to combine or distribute signal power on all beamforming ports from or to at least one antenna port of the beamforming network, wherein each radio frequency transceiver includes at least a phase shifter, a Tx/Rx switch, LNA, PA, up and down-conversion mixers, LO generation circuit, receive power combining and transmit power distribution schemes. The technical result of the invention is in the capability of providing efficient beam steering with high gain antennas with all the prospect features of phased antenna arrays, such as the ability to combine/distribute signal power between several RF amplifiers, thus, facilitating linearity requirements and increasing an output power of a transmitter. The present invention can be used, without limitations, in radio relay point-to-point communication systems, e.g. for forming backhaul networks of cellular mobile communication, in car radars and other radars, in local and personal communication systems, in satellite and intersatellite communication systems, etc.

Beam steerable communication apparatus

A radio-relay communication system having a radio-frequency transceiver units and a beam-scanning antenna is provided. It is configured for electronic scanning by switching between primary antenna elements. The system provides electronic scanning without losses or with low losses with each radio-frequency transceiver unit being electrically connected to at least one primary antenna element of the beam-scanning antenna. The antenna beam scanning is accomplished through the signal distribution units selecting at least one of radio-frequency transceiver units for processing of the received and generation of the transmitted signals in a given spatial direction.

Radio-relay communication system with beam-scanning antenna

An electronically beam-steerable antenna device comprises a dielectric lens having at least one flat surface, a high frequency dielectric board, a plurality of at least one primary antenna element with at least one transmission line formed on the high frequency dielectric board, and a switching network electrically connected to the said plurality of at least one primary antenna element and at least one transmission line and adapted to apply electric power to the at least one primary antenna element. The switching network is a semiconductor integrated circuit mounted in or on the high frequency dielectric board, and the high frequency dielectric board with the plurality of at least one antenna element and at least one transmission line formed thereon is adjacent to the flat surface of the dielectric lens. The electronically beam steerable antenna device according to the present invention allows for electronic beam steering in a continuous angle sector while increasing radiation efficiency. The antenna device according to the present invention may be used for providing high data rate point-to-point millimeter-wave communications in radio relay station applications.

Electronically beam-steerable antenna device

The invention relates to millimeter-wave point-to-point communication systems. A system comprises two separated millimeter-wave transceivers which provide high throughput data transmission and reception in frequency duplex mode and use high gain antennas capable of electronic scanning in some continuous angle range provided by the control module that implement control algorithms for antenna radiation pattern. Also a method based on the exploitation of scanning antennas of initial beam directions fine adjustment and subsequent beam directions tracking and readjustment when needed is proposed. The proposed system and method provide automatic recovery of failed connection in case of relay station orientation change due to influence of various external factors (wind, vibration, different intensity of heating of the bracing mountings at different time of a day and others) and can be used in backhaul systems of base station sites for mobile networks.
