A sealing arrangement for an electronically commutated fluid pump is provided. The sealing arrangement includes a gland formed in a housing outer face surface and connected to an endless groove in the housing. The gland includes a vent passage and a sealing surface that defines a depression in the outer face surface. The vent passage connects an internal chamber of the housing in fluid communication with the depression. A gasket including a venting element is received in the endless groove such that the venting element is disposed in the gland. The venting element is movable between a closed position in which a lip seals against the sealing surface and an open position in which the lip is spaced from the sealing surface allowing communication of fluid from the housing chamber to the outside. An integrated controller assembly and fluid pump including the sealing arrangement are also provided.

A sealing ring gland receives a sealing ring. The sealing ring gland includes an inner wall surface which seals against an inner periphery of the sealing ring. An outer wall surface is radially offset from the inner wall surface and seals against an outer periphery of the sealing ring. The sealing ring is axially compressed between an upper wall surface and a lower wall surface of the sealing ring gland. At least one of the upper wall surface and the lower wall surface includes an expansion volume which provides space for the sealing ring to expand upon swelling of the sealing ring.

Sealing ring gland and fuel pump including the same

A positive displacement fluid pump is provided. The fluid pump includes a housing defining an internal cavity. A motor having a drive shaft that rotates about an axis is housed within the internal cavity of the housing. An internal plate is adjacent the motor and includes a central bore through which the drive shaft extends. The fluid pump further includes an external plate including an inlet in fluid communication with a suction port and an outlet in fluid communication with a delivery port. A pumping ring is sandwiched between the internal and external plates, and a pumping arrangement is located within the pumping ring and axially between the internal plate and the external plate. The pumping arrangement is rotatably coupled to the drive shaft such that rotation of the pumping arrangement by the drive shaft causes fluid to be pumped from the suction port to the delivery port.

Electronic positive displacement fluid pump with motor cooling and air purging

A casing for a fluid pump is provided. The casing includes a unitary, single-piece, elongated shell having opposite first and second open ends. A circumferential bead is formed in the shell. A sleeve is received in the first open end of the shell. The sleeve is disposed between the bead and the first open end. A heat sink cap is received in the first open end and engages the sleeve. The shell includes a crimp formed at the first open end. The crimp contacts the heat sink cap and retains the heat sink cap in the first open end. The shell includes a lip formed at the second open end. A motor section and at least a part of a pumping section of the pump are encapsulated within the shell between the lip and the crimp. A fluid pump and a method of encapsulating the fluid pump are also provided.

Electronic positive displacement fluid pump and method of encapsulating the same

A fluid pump includes an inlet plate and an electric motor. The electric motor has a shaft that rotates about an axis. A pumping arrangement is rotationally coupled to the shaft. The pumping arrangement includes an rotating element. The fluid pump further includes a thrust bearing driver including a disc-like plate having first and second faces, and two posts extending perpendicularly from the first face. The shaft has a terminal end including a pair of slots that cooperate with the posts of the thrust bearing driver. The inner gear rotor has an inner surface including a pair of slots that cooperate with the posts of the thrust bearing driver. The posts of the thrust bearing driver are received in the slots of both the shaft and the rotating element, and the thrust bearing driver is sandwiched between the shaft, the inlet plate, and the rotating element.

A fluid pump includes a rotor which is centered about an axis, the rotor having a rotor central chamber and a plurality of vane slots. A stator has a recess therein within which the rotor is located, the recess having a recess peripheral surface which is eccentric to the axis. Each vane slot includes a vane therein such that the vanes define a plurality of pumping chambers which expand and contract based on rotational position the rotor relative to the stator. A positioning ring is located within the rotor central chamber such that the positioning ring engages each vane and such that the positioning ring urges each vane into contact with the recess peripheral surface. The positioning ring is radially aligned with a midpoint of each vane.

A fuel pressure regulator includes a fuel inlet; a fuel outlet; a seating surface; and a valve member assembly. The valve member assembly includes a poppet and also includes a sealing member which is made of an elastomer material and which is annular in shape and including a sealing member surface. The sealing member is supported by the poppet. The valve member assembly is moveable between 1) a closed position in which the sealing member surface engages the seating surface, thereby preventing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet and 2) an open position in which the sealing member surface is spaced apart from the seating surface, thereby allowing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet.

Fuel pressure regulator

A fuel pressure regulator includes a fuel inlet; a fuel outlet; a seating surface; and a valve member assembly. The valve member assembly includes a poppet and also includes a sealing member which is centered about a valve member assembly axis, is annular in shape, and includes a sealing member surface. The valve member assembly is moveable between 1) a closed position in which the sealing member surface annularly engages the seating surface, thereby preventing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet and 2) an open position in which at least a portion of the sealing member surface is spaced apart from the seating surface, thereby allowing fuel flow from the fuel inlet to the fuel outlet. A spring biases the valve member assembly toward the closed position and is centered about a spring axis which is laterally offset relative to the valve member assembly axis.

A fuel pump includes a housing which is tubular; an inlet plate closes one end of the housing and an end cap closes the other end of the housing. The end cap includes an outlet passage and a vapor purge passage. An electric motor within the housing rotates a pumping element to pump fuel through the fuel pump. A valve assembly of the fuel pump includes a valve member located within the purge passage, the valve member being moveable between a first position which blocks fluid communication therethrough and a second position which provides fluid communication therethrough. A valve retainer fixed to the end cap includes a first leg, a second leg which is opposed to the first leg, and a cross-beam which joins the first leg and the second leg. The valve member is stopped by the cross-beam at the second position.

A fluid pump includes a housing; an outlet; an inlet plate within the housing and having an inlet; an outlet plate disposed within the housing and having an outlet plate outlet passage; an electric motor which rotates about an axis; a pumping arrangement rotationally coupled to the electric motor such that rotation of the pumping arrangement causes fluid to be pumped from the inlet to the outlet plate outlet passage and through the outlet; a diverter plate between the outlet plate outlet passage and the electric motor and having a diverter passage which provides fluid communication from the outlet plate outlet passage, past the electric motor, to the outlet, the diverter plate also having an imperforate wall which is axially aligned with the outlet plate outlet passage such that the imperforate wall laterally directs fluid from the outlet passage to the diverter passage.

Fluid pump

A fluid pump includes a pump housing; an inlet which introduces fluid into the pump housing; an outlet which discharges the fluid from the pump housing; a pump section which pumps the fluid from the inlet to the outlet; and a strainer through which the fluid passes in order to enter the inlet. The fluid pump extends along an axis and the strainer includes a straining medium configured to allow the fluid to pass therethrough while preventing foreign matter of a predetermined size from passing therethrough. The straining medium defines a strained volume with the pump housing such that the strained volume is defined radially between the straining medium and the pump housing and such that the strained volume is in fluid communication with the inlet.

A valve assembly includes a hydraulic subassembly with a valve member displaceable along a valve axis for controlling flow of fluid. The valve assembly also includes a solenoid subassembly for selectively displacing said valve member. The solenoid subassembly includes a metallic solenoid housing having an open end and a solenoid housing base. The solenoid subassembly also includes a solenoid coil assembly disposed within the solenoid housing, the solenoid coil assembly having a coil wound around a plastic spool defining a spool bore extending through the spool. The solenoid subassembly also includes a metallic solenoid housing cover closing off the open end of the solenoid housing and attached to the solenoid housing with a crimp connection. The solenoid subassembly also includes a metallic column disposed within and passing through the spool bore extending from the solenoid housing base to the solenoid housing cover.

Solenoid-actuated pressure control valve

A pump piston assembly for use with a high-pressure pump includes a first section extending axially from a first end, a second section positioned adjacent to the first section and extending axially towards a second end, and an attenuation feature disposed within the piston bore such that the attenuation feature is part of the second end. By integrating the attenuation feature directly into the pump piston, pressure spikes, such as pressure peaks and valleys of an oscillatory pressure wave originating from the reciprocating motion of the piston, may be compensated directly in a supply pressure chamber. By providing a variety of attenuation features, such as a ball/spring assembly, an elastomer insert, an elastomer insert/internal piston assembly, and an elastomer insert/spring/ball assembly, attenuation for applications with a variety of frequencies and pressures can be utilized.

A solenoid-operated valve includes a valve body defining a valving bore for providing a path of communication between axially spaced inlet and outlet ports. A solenoid assembly is attached to the valve body and includes an inductor coil, a fixed flux guide and an armature, which is movable axially between a first position and a second position in response to electrical energization of the inductor coil. A valve member is disposed within the valving bore intermediate the inlet and outlet ports. An elongated control member interconnects the armature and the valve member for conjoined axial movement. A generally annular valve seat is disposed within the valving bore between the inlet port and valve member, the valve seat including a central through bore through which the control member extends.

Normally open high flow hydraulic pressure control actuator

In a vehicle solenoid valve, the spool that holds the actuation coil is formed with a hexagonal or octagonal inner chamber in which a cylindrical armature can slide. Owing to the different cross-sectional shapes between the spool and armature, a longitudinal fluid vent passageway is established along each edge of the chamber between the non-cylindrical walls of the chamber and the cylindrical armature so that movement of hydraulic fluid relative to the armature is promoted when the armature moves. The face of the spool that is oriented toward the valve end can be formed with radial vent grooves to further facilitate fluid venting when the armature moves.
