A method to form automobile vehicle acoustic insulators includes as stages: forming a fiber mass by mixing a low melting point polymeric fiber and a high melting point polymeric fiber in predefined volumes in a mixing device; adding a water volume to the fiber mass to create a semi-solid mass; placing the semi-solid mass in a mold; internally heating the semi-solid mass in the mold using microwave energy; and expelling a first portion of the water volume through apertures created in the mold.

An automotive seat with headrest assembly includes a seatback, a headrest, and a pair of headrest supports adapted to support the headrest on the seatback, each of the headrest supports including a lower rod, an upper rod, and an absorption unit positioned between and interconnecting the lower rod and the upper rod, the absorption unit adapted to allow angular deflection of the upper rod relative to the lower rod when a bending force is applied to the upper and lower rods, and to hold the lower and upper rods in a deflected orientation when the bending force is removed from the upper and lower rods.

Automotive seat headrest support

A vehicle sound absorber system includes a sound absorber fixing fastener having a cap with a cylindrical bore and an end face including multiple flexible bite members. A sound absorber material body is locally compressed and partially captured within the cylindrical bore. A remainder of the sound absorber material body not captured within the cylindrical bore extends radially outward and freely away from the cap. A stud extending from a vehicle body wall extends through a through aperture created in the sound absorber material body and a sound absorber panel of an acoustic material mounted on the vehicle body wall. The cap is captured on the stud by frictional engagement of the flexible bite members on the stud. The sound absorbing material of the sound absorber material body replaces sound absorber material removed to form each of a recessed area and a fully compressed layer of the sound absorber panel.

A cover assembly including: first, second, and third substantially rectangular panel sections in a parallel relationship and the second panel being interposed between the first and third panels. The foldable cover assembly also includes the first, second, and third panels being pivotally connected such that the panels can fold in relation to one another so as to form the cover assembly into a triangular configuration or the panels can fold open to bring the panels to have a common plane. A motor vehicle has a hollow space between a front pillar and a fender. A noise insulator panel is mounted within and fills the hollow the hollow space between the pillar and the fender panel to block and absorb the communication of noise to the weather strip that seals the door to the pillar. The noise insulator panel includes a housing portion of compressible foam material with a base wall that is oversized to fit in compression between the pillar and the fender panel to block the communication of noise and a sidewall that extend forwardly from the base wall to define a cavity facing the engine and tires. An absorber portion fills the open cavity of the housing portion. The absorber portion is made of a fibrous material that is secured within the cavity of the housing portion and acts to absorb noise.
