Devices, systems, and methods used to seal a treatment area to prevent embolic agents from migrating are described. The concept has particular benefit in allowing liquid embolic to be used with a variety of intravascular therapeutic applications, including for occluding aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations in the neurovasculature.

Embolic containment

A method of changing a catheter into a distal steering tool catheter includes adding to an existing catheter a tube assembly that passes through the catheter, the tube assembly including an internal tube and an external tube whose distal ends are coupled to each other and which are arranged for longitudinal axial movement relative to one another, and providing a tube manipulator coupled to the tube assembly, which is operative to cause relative axial movement of the internal and external tubes and bending of a distal portion of at least one of the internal and external tubes.

Changing catheter into steering tool

Described herein are apparatus, compositions, systems and associated methods to occlude structures and malformations with radiopaque hydrogel filaments with delayed controlled rates of expansion permitting the repositioning of the device once inside the structure or malformation. Further described is a device for implantation in an animal comprising a difunctional, low molecular weight ethylenically unsaturated shapeable macromer; an ethylenically unsaturated monomer; and a radiopaque element, wherein said device contains no support members. Methods of forming such devices are also disclosed.

A single intravenous drip components illumination device containing a source of light that can illuminate IV bags or bottles, drip chambers and tubing. The directed light of the light source provides adequate lighting for use of the invention in unlit or dimly lit settings with minimum lateral scattering. The device is sufficiently flexible and small that it may be hydraulically delivered to a site within the vasculature of a human body using an injected drug or fluid flush through a catheter.

Ultrasoft embolism devices and process for using them

This invention is an exceptionally flexible, ultrasoft vaso-occlusive or embolism forming device. It is made of a radiopaque material which may be braided or coiled to form a long, thin threadlike device having little rigidity or column strength. The diameter of the device may be less than about 0.010 inches. The device is sufficiently flexible and small that it may be hydraulically delivered to a site within the vasculature of the human body using an injected drug or fluid flush through a catheter. The device assumes a loose, random mass of threadlike material after being ejected from the catheter tip at the chosen vascular site. The device (whether coil or braid) may be used alone or in conjunction with larger coils or braids to achieve a denser occlusion or as a substrate to localize the subsequent infusion of tissue adhesives, particulate embolization devices, or chemotherapeutic agents in abnormal blood vessels and tissues or for the temporary occlusion of blood vessels during types of diminished blood flow testing. The invention also include processes for introducing the devices into the human body.

Ultrasoft embolism coils and process for using them

The invention provides flow directed catheters and methods which are useful in introducing various fluids to a target site within a body lumen. In one exemplary embodiment, a flow directed catheter is provided which comprises a catheter body having a proximal end, a distal end and at least one axial lumen. At least one jet is in fluid communication with the axial lumen. The jet is angled toward the proximal end of the catheter body so that a fluid which is flowed through the axial lumen exits the jet to distally propel the catheter body.
