This disclosure provides wireless communication methods, components, devices and systems for link recovery in wireless communication networks. Some aspects more specifically relate to the recovery of lost wireless communication links for which initial link establishment has been aided by communications over anchor links of different frequency bands than those of the lost wireless communication links. According to some aspects, a recovery mechanism can be implemented that enables involved devices to recover such 'extension' links using communications over their associated frequency bands, without needing to revert to communication over their corresponding anchor links. In some examples, such a recovery mechanism can be implemented to enable recovery of a millimeter wave (mmWave) extension link of a non-standalone mmWave basic service set (BSS) without needing to revert to communication over a sub-7 GHz anchor link.

Recovery mechanisms for wireless extension links

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for radio frequency (RF) sensing in the millimeter-wave frequency spectrum that can be performed over multiple phases. During a session setup phase, a radar initiator identifies one or more wireless stations (STAs) that are capable of radar ranging and sets up a radar measurement session that includes at least one of the identified STAs. During a measurement negotiation phase, the radar initiator performs a respective beamforming training operation with each STA and indicates, to each STA, one or more parameters associated with the radar measurement session. During a radar measurement phase, the radar initiator transmits radar setup information to, and receives ranging information from, each STA. In some aspects, the radar initiator may perform an object detection operation that indicates a location of an object associated with the ranging information received from each radar STA.

Radar-based radio frequency (RF) sensing

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for multistatic radar communications. In some implementations, a transmitting device may transmit, to a receiving device, a radar alert frame followed by a codeword and one or more radar pulses. The radar pulses are transmitted, using beamforming, in a number of directions. The timing information indicates a timing offset or delay between one or more codewords of the codeword sequence and the beginning of the radar pulses. The receiving device may detect one or more codewords of the codeword sequence and an echo of at least one of the radar pulses, and determine the time at which the corresponding pulse was transmitted by the transmitting device. The receiving device may compare the timing of the echo with the timing of the transmitted pulse to determine a relative distance of an object that produced the echo.

Multistatic radar measurement

This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for increasing carrier frequencies for wireless communications in wireless local area networks. Some implementations more specifically relate to beamforming training operations that support wireless communications on carrier frequencies above 7 GHz. In some aspects, a beamforming initiator may initiate a beamforming training operation by transmitting a number (N) of beamforming training (BFT) packets in N TX beam directions, respectively, on a carrier frequency above 7 GHz. The beamforming responder receives one or more of the BFT packets and provides feedback to the beamforming initiator indicating the TX beam direction associated with the BFT packet having the highest received signal power. In some aspects, the beamforming responder may train its RX antennas for RX beamforming concurrently while the beamforming initiator trains its TX antennas. In some other aspects, the beamforming responder may train its RX antennas after the beamforming initiator trains its TX antennas.

60 GHz beam management for wireless local area networks (WLANs)

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for multistatic radar communications. In one aspect, a wireless communication device may determine a distance and direction of one or more receiving devices. The wireless communication device may transmit, to the one or more receiving devices, timing information indicating a timing relationship between a codeword sequence and one or more pulses. The wireless communication device may transmit a respective codeword of the codeword sequence in the direction of each of the one or more receiving devices. The wireless communication device may further transmit the one or more pulses in a plurality of directions. The wireless communication device may receive feedback from at least one of the one or more receiving devices and determine ranging information about an object based on the feedback and the distance or direction of at least one receiving device.

System for multistatic radar communication

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless sensing. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may receive a first wireless transmission including a transmit (TX) parameter information element (IE). The first wireless communication device may verify the integrity of the TX parameter IE using a message integrity code (MIC) in the first wireless transmission, discarding the first wireless transmission when the MIC does not verify the integrity of the TX parameter IE. The first wireless device may obtain one or more transmission parameters for one or more second wireless communication devices associated with the TX parameter IE. The first wireless communication device may receive a second wireless transmission from one of the second wireless communication devices and obtain one or more wireless sensing measurements associated with the second wireless transmission and the one or more transmission parameters.

Protected sessionless WiFi sensing

In some implementations, an initiator device establishes a measurement session with each of a plurality of responder devices based at least in part on their capabilities. The initiator device negotiates, with each of the responder devices, a respective set of one or more sensing parameters based at least in part on the capabilities of the initiator device and the capabilities of the respective responder device, the respective sets of sensing parameters associated with the responder devices being identified by a unique Measurement Setup identifier (ID). The initiator device performs one or more measurement instances with the responder devices based on the respective sets of sensing parameters, each measurement instance identified by a unique Measurement Instance ID and the respective Measurement Setup ID. The initiator device obtains, from each responder device, one or more measurement reports indicating channel state information (CSI) based on the one or more respective measurement instances.

Sensing coordination in a wireless network

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication. In some aspects, An example method includes receiving, from a second wireless communication device, a frame associated with one or more wireless sensing measurements, verifying an integrity of the received frame associated with a message integrity code (MIC) in the received frame, and obtaining one or more wireless sensing measurements associated with the received frame.

Protected WiFi sensing measurements

A transceiver having a virtual array is disclosed that includes a transmit antenna array and a receive antenna array. The transmit antennas are spaced apart by a transmit array spacing. Similarly, the receive antennas are spaced apart by a receive array spacing. One of the receive and transmit arrays has more antenna elements than a ratio of either the transmit array spacing divided by the receive array spacing or of the receive array spacing divided by the transmit array spacing.

Tapering for MIMO

Various aspects of the disclosure relate to co-existence of millimeter wave (mmW) communication and radar. In some aspects, a device that supports mmW communication and radar operations may determine whether or when to conduct radar operations based on information obtained about a nearby mmW network. For example, prior to sending radar signals, the device may monitor for mmW communication signals. As another example, the device may send at least one mmW communication signal to reserve a communication medium for subsequent radar operations. As yet another example, the device may conduct radar operations during idle or allocated time periods defined by the mmW network.

Co-existence of millimeter wave communication and radar

Systems and methods are provided for flow control in a wireless communication system. In certain aspects, an apparatus for wireless communications comprises an interface configured to receive, from a wireless node, one or more parameters specifying a memory at the wireless node, and an indication of an amount of free memory space in the memory at the wireless node. The apparatus also comprises a processing system configured to determine a number of data units to be transmitted to the wireless node based on the indication of the amount of free memory space and the one or more parameters, wherein the interface is further configured to output data units for transmission to the wireless node, wherein a number of the data units output for transmission to the wireless node equals the determined number of data units.
