A propulsion system having an axial direction relating to a principal direction of propulsion, and a height direction perpendicular to the axial direction. The propulsion system includes a duct configured to convey a flow of fluid along the axial direction, and a heat exchanger disposed within the duct. The heat exchanger is defined between an inlet face and an outlet face and is configured to convey the flow of fluid from the inlet face to the outlet face. A heat exchanger length is defined as a minimum distance between the inlet face and the outlet face and wherein the heat exchanger length varies along the height direction such that a resistance to the flow of fluid through the heat exchanger varies along the height direction.

Propulsion system comprising a heat exchanger

A vane for an exhaust system duct in a gas turbine engine including a vane plate, a guide plate, and a baffle. The vane plate includes a leading edge, a first leg and a second leg, with the first and second legs respectively extending on opposing sides of the leading edge to form a substantially U-shaped profile. The baffle connects respective distal ends of the first and second legs. The guide plate is accommodated within the vane plate, and includes a first aperture extending along the guide plate and aligned with the leading edge. The vane further includes a fluid inlet arranged, in use, to direct a fluid flow from outside the duct into an interior of the vane.

Vane

A gas turbine engine installation is provided that has a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) harness to transfer electrical signals, including electrical power, around a gas turbine engine. The FPCB harness is held to the gas turbine engine installation using clips. The clips have a jaw that has two sets of opposing teeth extending from a base, and a mouth through which the FPCB harness is inserted. The teeth point in a direction that has a component from the mouth to the teeth. This means that the force required to insert the FPCB harness into the clip is lower than the force required to pull the FPCB harness out of the clip in the opposite direction. This means that the FPCB harness can be secured in place while aiding ease of assembly.

Flexible printed circuit board harness

A compliant element has first and second sections which are separated by a gap. The first and second sections have respective surfaces opposing each other across the gap. The first and second sections are interconnected by flexure elements which are integral with the first and second sections and which extend across the gap. At least part of each flexure element extends obliquely across the gap. Movement of the sections towards and away from each other is accompanied by flexing of the flexure elements.

Compliant element

Seal assembly for sealing a clearance gap between a boundary of an aperture formed in a housing and a member extending through the aperture. The seal assembly comprises a seal member and a seal member mounting means disposed around the sealing member and is configured to engage with the aperture boundary. The seal member mounting means is configured to seal an alignment interspace provided in the clearance gap between the seal member and aperture boundary. The seal member mounting means is configurable to permit the seal member to be located at a position relative to the aperture boundary in dependence upon the relative positions of the member and aperture boundary to thereby accommodate misalignment between the member and aperture boundary. The seal member mounting means is configurable to lock the seal member relative to the aperture boundary in said position.

Seal assembly

An intake duct for a compressor comprises an inlet and an outlet means. The duct has a serpentine path. The outlet means comprises a first outlet and a second outlet. The duct further comprises at least one grille member configured to prevent the passage of objects over a predetermined size which is positioned in the duct out of the line of sight when viewed through the inlet. The duct is shaped such that in operation objects passing through the at least one grille member greater than a predetermined mass are directed towards the first outlet and the remainder of the objects are directed towards the second outlet. The first outlet leads overboard and/or to a trap and the second outlet leads to a compressor.
