Embodiments described herein relate generally to wearable electronic biosensing garments. In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a biosensing garment and a plurality of electrical connectors that are mechanically fastened to the biosensing garment. A plurality of printed electrodes is disposed on the biosensing garment, each being electrically coupled, via a corresponding conductive pathway, to a corresponding one of the plurality of electrical connectors. The apparatus can further include an elongate member including a conductive member that is coupled to a plurality of elastic members in a curved pattern and that is configured to change from a first configuration to a second configuration as the elongate member stretches. The change from the first configuration to the second configuration can result in a change of inductance of the conductive member.

A textile system for producing heat comprises a panel of heating textile, the heating textile comprising a non-woven three-dimensional network of non-electrically conductive fibers and strands of electrically conductive fibers consolidated therewith. Electrodes are conductively connected to the panel of heating textile at opposite ends. A circuit is formed at least by the panel of heating textile and the electrodes, the circuit being adapted to be connected to a power source to heat the heating textile.

There is described herein a knitting technique for creating a garment having one or more 3D textile electrodes integrated therein. The knitting technique involves knitting the item with integrated electrodes and transmission channels in one single step. The electrode is knit using conducting thread while a base fabric is knit using non-conducting thread. The electrode is knit on a first needle bed and the base fabric is knit on a second needle bed opposite to and facing the first needle bed, the two needle beds being separated by a few millimeters. During the knitting process, the surface knit on the first needle bed and the surface knit on the second needle bed may be linked using an isolating thread network that is simply deposited, without forming a mesh, on the fabric, in order to provide the three-dimensional effect.
