A continuous casting mold includes mold plates which enclose the casting cross section and in which cooling channels extend. The mold plates are connectable to a water box by screw elements which are formed by fastening bolts having a threaded shank which is screwable into fastening threads located in the mold plate. To achieve a uniform cooling in a continuous casting mold, the fastening threads are arranged such that their center longitudinal axes extend between two adjacent coolant channels of the plurality of cooling channels. The diameter of each threaded bore hole of the fastening threads is greater than the distance between the two adjacent cooling channels, and each bore hole of the fastening threads ends at a distance from the floor of the plurality of cooling channels to define the screw-in depth of the fastening bolts.

The invention relates to a method for the continuous casting of a metal strand (), in which the cast strand () leaves a die () vertically or arcuately downwards and is subsequently guided in a strand guide (), wherein the strand guide () has a number of pairs of rollers (), which define between them an adjustable roller nip (), and wherein, at the start of casting, to close the die () in the downward direction, a piece of strand () is introduced into the die () and is followed by the cast strand (). In order to improve the adjustment of the roller nip, the invention provides that the piece of strand (), which is produced with a defined or calibrated thickness (d), is inserted between the respective pairs of rollers to calibrate and/or measure the roller nip ().

Method for the continuous casting of a metal strand

A method of and a device for determining the position of the solidification point () in a strand () during continuous casting of liquid metals, in particular of steel, lead to precise results, while an indirect measurement of a movable amount of a core liquid volume per unit of length is carried out by direct measurement of generated process parameters by force and/or path signals on fixed or adjustable individual support rollers or groups of fixed or adjustable support roller pairs, and based on the measurement values, a calculation model for a momentary position of the solidification point () is produced, based on which, changeable casting parameters are continuously adjusted.

Method and device for determining the position of the solidification point

A strand guide roller () of a strand guide device for guiding a cast strand () includes at least one first and one second sectional rollers arranged next to each other, includes a middle bearing (--) located between both sectional rollers (--) for receiving and supporting the roller journal (-) of the first sectional roller (-) formed on an end surface of the first sectional roller (-) adjacent to the second sectional roller (-), with the first and second sectional rollers being connected with each other outside of the middle bearing by a plug-in connection.

Strand guide roller

The invention relates to a wall () of a casting die for casting a molten metal. Die walls comprising a front plate () with a pocket borehole () and a rear plate () with a transversal borehole () aligned with the pocket borehole, on the cold side of the die front plate, are known in prior art. The aim of the invention is prevent the entrance of cooling liquid from the transition region (), between the front plate () and the rear plate (), into the pocket borehole () or the transversal borehole (). To this end, a sealing element () having a longitudinal borehole is arranged in the transition region () in such a way that the longitudinal borehole of the sealing element is at least approximately aligned with the transversal borehole () in the rear plate of the die and the pocket borehole () in the front plate of the die.

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for guiding a strip, in particular a metal strip. Known apparatuses of this type have a carrier device () on which bearing blocks () arm fastened. Rollers () are rotatably mounted in the bearing blocks in order to guide the strip. So that the roller force acting on the roller in the loading case, i.e. during the guidance of the strip, can be measured in a lasting and reliable manner, it is proposed according to the invention to detect the deformation of the bearing block, in particular in the loading case, by means of a sensor device and ten to calculate the roller force required from the deformation of the bearing block by means of an evaluating device.

Apparatus for guiding a strip

A method of determining the friction between the strand shell and the mold during continuous casting with an oscillating mold includes measuring with the use of controlled double-acting hydraulic cylinders and with a predeterminable measuring frequency the pressures of always both chambers of all oscillating cylinders as well as the lifting positions of the pistons corresponding to these pressures, and by computing from these data the friction force acting at any point in time between the strand shell and the mold walls.
