In a method for mitigating the blurring effect in a radar image () obtained by a ground-based radar system, thereof, a Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF) value is selected () in a radar sensor unit () such that radial velocity measurements of the targets of an observed scenario can be made up to a maximum unambiguous velocity v, a radial velocity threshold is also selected () to discriminate between substantially stationary targets and possible fast-moving targets having radial velocities v≤v* and v>v*, respectively. The scenario is conventionally scanned () by emitting transmission signals to the targets and receiving corresponding backscattered signals () from which raw data () are extracted (), the latter in turn are Doppler-processed () so as to discriminate first and second data () related to the substantially stationary and to the fast-moving target(s), respectively, according to whether the measured radial velocities (v) are lower than the radial velocity threshold (v*) or not, respectively; second data are removed () from the Doppler-processed data () and radar image () is formed from remaining first data, i.e., based on the substantially stationary targets only. The method allows reducing the occurrence of artifacts due to fast-moving objects that are systematically present or that turn up in the scenario at the moment of taking an image thereof, such as truckloads or vehicle in general, as well as crane mobile portion in scenarios like a portion of a mine. Method and apparatus for blurring effect mitigation in ground-based radar images

A method for monitoring surface deformations of a scenario by means of differential interferometry technique, including the steps of prearranging a radar sensor having a transmitting antenna and a receiving antenna arranged to transmit and acquire radar signals, the radar sensor arranged to move along a planar trajectory &#x3b3; having centre O; defining a reference system S having origin in the centre O; acquiring by SAR technique the scenario by means of handling the radar sensor along the planar trajectory &#x3b3;, the radar sensor being configured so that the radiation pattern of the antennas is oriented radially with respect to the centre O, the acquisition occurring at points of acquisition sarranged on the trajectory &#x3b3;, the three-dimensional position of each target point tbeing definable by means of spherical coordinates (&#x3c1;,&#x3b8;,&#x3b2;).

Method and apparatus for monitoring surface deformations of a scenario

The invention relates to a method and to an apparatus for determining a displacement vector field of a scenario, by a ground-based interferometric radar system operated in multi-bistatic mode and comprising a main radar transceiver device and at least one passive radar receiver device arranged at a predetermined distance from each other, in which the oscillators of the at least two radar are synchronized, in time and in frequency, in particular according to a signal coming from a global positioning system. The method provides a step of interferometrically determining at least one first displacement map and one second displacement map of the scenario between a previous time and a subsequent time, expressed in a global reference system and having each a plurality of pixels each associated to a respective domain of the scenario. The first and the second displacement maps comprise first and second displacement components of the pixel, respectively, along the line of sight of the main radar device, and along the bisectors of an angle between said line of sight and the line of sight of passive radar device, for each pixel. A step is then provided of combining the two displacement maps, more in detail, the first and the second component of each pixel, creating a displacement vector field of displacements occurred between the previous time and the subsequent time. The invention provides an apparatus much easier and less expensive than the prior art, in which a plurality of multi-monostatic, transceiving radar devices are used.
