An extension cable is adapted for use in an intravascular ultrasound system. It has a first connector, for connecting to a catheter and a second connector for connecting to a patient interface module. A cable arrangement provides power transmission, data transmission and data signal processing (amplification or regeneration) between the first and second connectors. The extension cable enables sterility to be maintained in a workflow in a time efficient and easy manner as the catheter to extension cable connection may remain in a sterile environment.

The present invention relates to electromagnetic tracking of medical devices. In order to provide improved tracking of medical devices, a wireless readout unit () for an electromagnetic tracking system of medical devices is provided. The wireless readout unit comprises a data input (), a data processor () and a data output (). The data input is configured to receive raw signals () from an electromagnetic sensor, and the data processor is configured to at least partly pre-process the raw signals provided by the data input for further transformation. Further, the data output is configured for data transmission of the at least partly pre-processed data to a control unit of an electromagnetic tracking system of medical devices. The data output provides a wireless data link () to a control unit.

An interventional X-ray system is proposed, the system including a multi X-ray source unit positioned below a patient table. This 'multiblock' may comprise several x-ray sources with focal spot positions distributed along the x-y (table) plane. The x-ray sources are operable in a switching scheme in which certain x-ray sources may be activated in parallel and also sequential switching between such groups is intended. The switching may be carried out so that several images with different projection angles can be acquired in parallel. In other words, an optimal multi-beam X-ray exposure is suggested, wherein fast switching in one dimension and simultaneous exposure in the 2nd dimension is applied.

Airway impedance of a subject using a respiratory treatment device can be measured, in accordance with one or more embodiments. A conduit is configured to communicate a flow of inhaled gas and a flow of exhaled gas to and from an airway of the subject using the respiratory treatment device. A first valve is disposed within the conduit and configured to affect the flow of exhaled gas. One or more sensors are disposed within the conduit and are configured to provide a signal conveying information associated with one or more characteristics of gas exhaled by the subject while the flow of exhaled gas is affected or unaffected by the first valve. An airway impedance monitoring module can be executed by a processor to determine an impedance metric of the airway of the subject based on the information conveyed by the signal provided by the one or more sensors.

This invention relates to a method and a system for monitoring skin color of a user. The system comprises a capturing unit, an obtaining unit, a deriving unit and a determining unit. The capturing unit captures at least one image of the user over a predetermined time period, and the obtaining unit obtains motion-related information of the user over the predetermined time period. The deriving unit derives visual information from the at least one image on the basis of the motion-related information, and the determining unit determines the skin color on the basis of the derived visual information. In this way, the skin color of the user can be effectively monitored without exposing the user to strong environmental light.

The detector is integrated in a chip of semiconductor material with a front surface and a back surface opposite the front surface, the detector having at least one detection cell arranged on the front surface for receiving a radiation to be evaluated, wherein the detector includes: a first region of a first type of conductivity extending into the chip from the front surface to a first depth; a second region of a second type of conductivity extending into the chip from the back surface to a second depth so as to reach the first region; and for each detection cell a third region of the second type of conductivity extending into the first region from the front surface to a third depth lower than the first depth and the second depth, a thin sensitive volume for absorbing energy from the radiation being defined by a junction between the first region and each third region, and a thick sensitive volume for absorbing further energy from the radiation being defined by a further junction between the first region and the second region. For each detection cell the detector further includes insulation means arranged around the third region and extending from the front surface into the first region to an insulation depth comprised between the first depth and the third depth.

An embodiment of the present invention relates to a asynchronous interconnection system comprising a transmitter circuit and a receiver circuit inserted between inserted between respective first and second voltage references and having respective transmitter and receiver nodes coupled in a capacitive manner. The receiver circuit comprises: a recovery stage inserted between the first and second voltage references of the receiver circuit and connected to the receiver node; and a state control stage, in turn inserted between the first and second voltage references of the receiver circuit connected to the recovery stage correspondence with a first feedback node providing a first control signal and having a second feedback node connected in a feedback manner to the recovery stage. The recovery stage comprises a first feedback loop connected to the first feedback node and acting in such a way to recover a received voltage signal and a feedback loop connected to the second feedback node of the state control stage and acting in such a way to deactivate the recovery feedback on the receiver node and guarantee that the receiver node is let in a high impedance state.
