A laundry drying appliance () includes a cabinet () having a top (), a rotating drum () accommodated within a tub () housed in the cabinet, and a laundry drying air circulation system for circulating drying air. The drying air circulation system includes a drying air return duct () through which drying air coming from drum flows. The drying air return duct has an outlet (), and a drying air delivery duct () through which the drying air is sent back to the drum. The drying air delivery duct has an inlet (). The top forms a ready-to-mount moisture condensing module ready to be mounted to the cabinet for dehydrating drying air used to dry laundry within the drying drum of the laundry drying appliance. The top has a drying air inlet () couplable to the outlet of the drying air return duct, a drying air outlet () couplable to the inlet of the drying air delivery duct, fluid passageways defined inside the top from said drying air inlet to the drying air outlet for the passage of the drying air to be dehydrated. Moisture condensing means are arranged inside the fluid passageways.

A laundry dryer () has a casing (), a laundry storing compartment () arranged within the casing () for receiving laundry () to be dried by passing process air through the laundry storing compartment, a heat exchanger () for dehumidifying the process air after passing the laundry storing compartment (), and a removable condensate reservoir () for storing condensed water formed at the heat exchanger (). The reservoir () has a reservoir outlet for draining condensate liquid stored therein and a closing element for closing the reservoir outlet when the condensate reservoir is extracted from a reservoir compartment (). The reservoir compartment () is associated to the casing () for receiving and housing the removable condensate reservoir (), wherein the removable condensate reservoir () can be extracted from and inserted into the reservoir compartment (). A supply line () for cleaning a component of the dryer and including a supply line inlet fluidly connected to the reservoir outlet () when the removable condensate reservoir () is inserted in the reservoir compartment (), a supply line outlet for delivering condensed water to the component to be cleaned, and a pump () for conveying condensed water from the supply line inlet to the supply line outlet. A coupling arrangement associated to the reservoir outlet () and/or the supply line inlet and adapted to actuate the closing element. The coupling arrangement is adapted to maintain the closing element in an open state when the condensate reservoir () is inserted into the reservoir compartment (), such that condensate liquid can freely flow from the reservoir outlet to the supply line (); and wherein the a portion of the supply line () is located above a maximum condensate liquid level of the condensate reservoir ().

Method for controlling a laundry dryer including a fan motor for driving a drying air stream fan with a variable speed

A laundry dryer is provided with a modular air recirculation subassembly fitted beneath a rotatable drum of the dryer. The subassembly has an air recirculation passage provided between an air supply passage and an air exhaust passage of the dryer. The air recirculation subassembly further has a flow directing flap at the juncture of the air inlet passage and the air recirculation passage to direct the recirculation air flow toward a heater and away from an inlet end of the air supply passage. The air recirculation subassembly may include a filter positioned across the air recirculation passage upstream of the heater, which filter is removable through the air exhaust passage. The subassembly may further include a heat exchanger to transfer heat from the warmer air exiting the exhaust passage to the cooler air entering the air supply passage, and a recirculation air flow regulating flap.

A method is provided for operating a laundry dryer having a rotatable drum for accommodating clothes to be dried and an apparatus for circulating drying air through the drum. The method comprises the steps of performing a drying cycle selected by a user, wherein the drying cycle comprises predetermined drum movements over time depending on the cycle selected, detecting values indicative of the temperature of the drying air exiting the drum, based on said detected values, determining that the clothes inside the drum are in tangling conditions and starting an untangling operation for untying the clothes inside the drum. The untangling operation comprises modification of the predetermined drum movements. The modification comprises at least one of the following: stopping the rotation of the drum, reversing the rotation of the drum, modifying the speed of rotation of the drum, at the end of the untangling operation, either resuming the predetermined drum movements associated to the drying cycle that was running before starting the untangling operation, or performing drum movements over time different from the predetermined drum movements associated to the drying cycle that was running before starting the untangling operation.

A top adapted to match and close from above a cabinet of a laundry drying appliance is provided. The top is formed as a ready-to-mount part ready to be mounted to the cabinet and forming a moisture condensing module for dehydrating drying air used to dry laundry within a drying drum of the laundry drying appliance. The top has a drying air inlet for receiving moisture-laden drying air, a drying air outlet for delivering demoisturized drying air, fluid passageways defined thereinside from the drying air inlet to the drying air outlet for the passage of the drying air to be dehydrated and a moisture condenser arranged inside the fluid passageways. The top includes, integrally formed therein, at least one structural part of the appliance, the at least one structural part of the appliance having at least one of: a part a housing of a fan for propelling the drying air; a drying air delivery duct connectable to a drying air inlet of the drying drum for delivering the drying air into the drying drum; a seat for a container of detergents/softener for washing laundry; a condense water collector for collecting condense water released by the moisture-laden drying air; at least part of a condense water draining system; a support for at least one water inlet valve for selectively allowing the intake of water from a water main; and at least part of a water circuit for delivering water to wash the moisture condensing means.

A laundry dryer includes a cabinet, a rotatable drum within the cabinet, a plurality of rollers rotatably supporting the rotatable drum, a process air moisture condensing device provided in a casing in a basement of the laundry dryer, and a water pipe operatively connected to at least one component of the condensing device. The laundry dryer comprises at least one fire-protection shield which contains a fire or burning within the cabinet of the laundry dryer. Accordingly to some aspects, the fire-protection shield includes a fire-resistant roller cover which covers a majority of a face of a corresponding roller such that the corresponding roller is shielded from a fire within the cabinet of the laundry dryer. According to other aspects, the fire-protection device includes a fire-resistant pipe covering configured to shield the water pipe from the fire or other burning within the cabinet of the laundry dryer.

A laundry treatment apparatus, in particular a dryer () or washing machine having a drying function, includes a cabinet having a front wall, a rear wall, side walls and a base section. The base section has an internal side facing the interior of the cabinet and an external side exposed to the outside of the cabinet. A laundry storing chamber for treating laundry using process air (A), a process air loop for circulating the process air through the laundry storing chamber, and a heat pump system for dehumidifying and heating the process air are also provided. The heat pump system has a refrigerant loop comprising: a first heat exchanger () for heating a refrigerant and cooling the process air (A), a second heat exchanger () for cooling the refrigerant and heating the process air, a refrigerant expansion device, a compressor, and an auxiliary heat exchanger (). The auxiliary heat exchanger () is arranged at the external side of the base section.

A laundry machine includes an integrated heat pump system. The laundry machine comprises a cabinet (). A tub () is associated to the cabinet (). An air line is fluidly connected to the tub and to the heat pump system for air recirculation. At least one filter () is provided for intercepting the fluff dragged out of the laundry () by the drying air flow. Vibrating means () are adapted to cause the filter () to vibrate, so as to drop down the fluff from the filter (). The filter () is selectively positionable between an operational position in which the filter () is arranged in a seat () intercepting the drying air circuit (), and an extracted position in which the filter () is removed from the seat (), outside the drying air circuit (). The vibrating means includes an exciter, associated to the casing (), and an exciter-responsive element, associated to the filter (). The exciter and the exciter-responsive element are adapted to reciprocally cooperate in order to cause the filter () to vibrate when the filter () is in the operational position. The exciter and the exciter-responsive element are configured to allow the filter () to be extracted from and inserted in the seat ().
