Ionizing radiation imaging apparatus and method including a scintillator element which emits optical radiation as a result of absorption of ionizing radiation, and a photoconductive multilayer element optically coupled to the scintillator element, the photoconductive multilayer element including a charge generation layer which is sensitive to the optical radiation emitted by the scintillator element, and a charge transport layer disposed over the charge generation layer, the charge transport layer being operative to retain a charge pattern corresponding to the ionizing radiation.

Hybrid detector for X-ray imaging

An X-ray imaging module having a multilayer ionizing radiation sensitive element operative to convert spatially modulated impinging X-ray radiation to a spatially modulated charge distribution. The multilayer ionizing radiation sensitive element has a substrate, a conductive layer overlying the substrate, an ionizing radiation sensitive layer overlying the conductive layer which converts ionizing radiation impinging thereon to charge carriers, and a blocking layer exposed to ionizing radiation and optical radiation, overlying the ionizing radiation sensitive layer. The blocking layer generally limits the passage of charges, of at least one polarity, therethrough and blocks optical radiation, of at least one spectral band, from penetrating therethrough, while permitting passage therethrough of ionizing radiation.

The present invention discloses a radiation image detector including an ionizing radiation sensing element which is operative to present an imagewise electrostatic charge distribution in response to imagewise ionizing radiation exposure thereof; a charge generator, in non-contact proximity with the radiation sensing element, which is operative to inject charge onto said radiation sensing element; an optical radiation source which projects visible radiation onto the radiation sensing element; and read circuitry, which detects information-bearing signals, representing said imagewise electrostatic charge distribution, the signals being created when the charge generator and the optical radiation source are concurrently activated in generally mutual registration.

X-ray imaging system

The present invention discloses an ionizing radiation sensitive multi-layer structure having a charge accepting outer surface and comprising a conductive layer, said ionizing radiation sensitive multi-layer structure being operative such that imagewise ionizing radiation impinging on said ionizing radiation sensitive multi-layer structure causes a charge distribution, representing said imagewise ionizing radiation, to be formed in said conductive layer; and readout electronics coupled to said conductive layer to detect the charge distribution formed in said conductive layer.

The present disclosure presents an apparatus for radiation detection comprising a generally uniform dielectric layer, a conductive layer interfacing a first surface of the generally uniform dielectric layer; an ionizing radiation detection multi-layer structure including a photoelectric conversion layer interfacing a second surface of the generally uniform dielectric layer; said ionizing radiation detection multi-layer structure, said generally uniform dielectric layer, and said conductive layer being configured with respect to each other and being operative such that an imagewise ionizing radiation pattern impinging on said ionizing radiation detection multi-layer substrate causes a corresponding charge pattern representing said imagewise ionizing radiation to be generated at the interface between the generally uniform dielectric layer and the photoelectric conversion layer and causes a readable imagewise replica of said charge pattern to be formed in said conductive layer.

Active matrix detector for X-ray imaging

The present invention discloses a system for management of X-ray imaging facilities and services including at least one digital X-ray imaging facility operative to provide digital images in response to X-ray exposures; a metering system associated with each of said at least one digital X-ray imaging facilities for metering the number of digital images produced thereby; and a service center, generating a billing output for each of the at least one digital X-ray imaging facilities in respect of the number of X-ray exposures provided thereby.
