A bushing includes a cylindrical main body having a leading end and a trailing end, wherein a fastener passage is defined within the main body, and a plurality of ribs outwardly extending from the main body. The plurality of ribs are configured to securely position the bushing with respect to an opening formed in a component.

Bushing assembly

A fastener assembly includes a bushing having a flange configured to be urged toward a work-piece, and an isolation spring configured to be positioned between the flange and the work-piece. The isolation spring includes a metal core integrally formed with a rubber coating.

An isolating connector between a first work piece and a second work piece each defining a hole therein includes first and second spring members that capture the first work piece between flanges of the spring members and establish a column between the second work piece and a head of a bolt extending through the first and second spring members and anchored in the second work piece.

Work piece isolating assembly

A fastener assembly device is disclosed for fastening workpieces together. The device includes an elongate fastener having a first and a second end. The first end of the fastener defines a head and the fastener includes a threaded portion which extends between the second end of the fastener and the head. A shank portion is disposed between the head and the threaded portion and an annular collar is disposed between the head and the second end of the fastener. A washer cooperates with the fastener, the washer defining an aperture for the reception therethrough of the threaded portion of the fastener. The washer includes a plurality of protrusions which extend towards and cooperate with the annular collar. The arrangement is such that when the threaded portion of the fastener extends through the aperture of the washer, the protrusions interact with the collar for holding the fastener and the washer together. Also, each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is unevenly spaced circumferentially from an adjacent protrusion.

Fastener assembly device

A pre-assembled workpiece fastenable to a mounting surface of a second workpiece, and in one application a pre-assembled plastic component fastenable to a metal automotive engine component. The pre-assembled workpiece includes an opening extending therethrough between an outer surface and a mounting surface thereof. A sleeve member is retainably disposed in the opening through the pre-assembled workpiece, and a fastener having a threaded shank portion and a head is retainably disposed through the sleeve member. The fastener is axially and laterally positionable relative to the pre-assembled workpiece, whereby the pre-assembled workpiece is mountable and alignable on the mounting surface of the second workpiece without interference from the fastener. The sleeve member includes a resilient first substantially radial flange member, whereby the sleeve member is axially positionable relative to the opening through the pre-assembled workpiece upon fastening the pre-assembled workpiece to the second workpiece to compensate for misalignment tolerance and thermal expansion of the pre-assembled workpiece.

Pre-assembled manifold fastener system and method therefor

Corrosion resistant fasteners and similar articles are compositely coated in which an epoxy base coating is applied on an inner metallic core and a top coating is applied on the epoxy coating. The epoxy base coat is preferably applied on the metallic core by cathodic electrodeposition. The composition of the top coating can comprise sulfonates such as petroleum sulfonates and sulfurized hydrocarbon fatty acid and ester. Hydrocarbon fatty acid ester in the top coat can be derived from polymer of ethylene or propylene or natural oil. Particularly preferred top coat formulations additionally include a salt of sulfamic acid or a derivative and/or salts of barium such as barium carbonate and barium sulfate. The composite coatings provide improvement in corrosion resistance of the fasteners.
