An emerizing apparatus is equipped with an emergy roller having multiple beater blades about its circumference, the outer periphery of each beater blade being formed with a pair of axially extending longitudinal beater edges and a concave arcuate recess therebetween, whereby each beater edge is adapted to individually strike a textile web traveling in tensioned engagement with the roller periphery to produce a shorter and more dense napped surface on the textile web than can be achieved by a corresponding conventional emery roller operating at the same rotational speed.

Corduroy cutting machine, including a shaft, a plurality of circular knives disposed adjacent each other on the shaft for cutting open floating wefts of a fabric web being movable along a given travel direction, a plurality of needles having points and having longitudinal slots formed therein for receiving portions of the knives defining a cutting edge opposite the knives, a device for inserting the needles into the floating wefts to be cut open in the direction opposite the given travel direction, a contact table disposed below the needle points, a device for stopping the cutting machine upon contact between the contact table and one of the needles, the needles and the contact table defining a working plane for a cutting operation into which the fabric web is guidable from below over the contact table to the cutting edge, a rear table disposed at a distance from the contact table upstream of the needle points in the given travel direction, a device for holding the rear table in the working plane during the cutting operation, a device for lowering the rear table, and the contact table from the working plane, a needle supporting table, and a device for moving the needle supporting table into a region directly below any of the needle points still disposed in the working plane when the rear table is lowered.

Corduroy cutting machine and method of operation thereof

Corduroy cutting machine, including a shaft, a plurality of circular knives disposed adjacent each other on the shaft for cutting open floating wefts of a fabric web being movable along a given travel direction, a plurality of needles being normally movable in a given working area, the needles having points and having longitudinal slots formed therein for receiving portions of the knives at a cutting edge, the needles being insertable into the floating wefts to be cut open in a direction opposite the given travel direction, upper and lower contact strips being respectively disposed above and below the needle points, at least one of the contact strips being actuatable for stopping the cutting machine upon contact by one of the needles, the needles and the lower contact strip defining a working plane onto which the fabric is guidable from below over the lower contact strip to the cutting edge, the lower contact strip being lowerable from the working plane, and a collecting rail being associated with the upper contact strip for prohibiting an advance of the needles from the cut fabric web substantially beyond the given working area of the needle movement.

Corduroy cutting machine

Corduroy cutting machine, including a shaft, a multiplicity of circular knives laterally aligned on the shaft, a cutting edge associated with the knives, a plurality of needles having points and longitudinal slots formed therein and being insertible against a given travel direction of a web of material into floating wefts of the material to be cut open, each of the needles being immersible into one of the slots, a contact table disposed beneath the points of the needles, a switch for stopping the machine being actuatable by contact between the contact table and needles, a working surface being disposed upstream of the contact table in travel direction of the web of material on which the web of material can be fed from below, a feed cylinder disposed upstream of the working surface in travel direction of the web of material around which the web of material to be cut can be looped from below and fed past the contact table to the cutting edge, the working surface being defined by the needles, contact table and feed cylinder, and the contact table being lowerable below the working surface.
