A folding device includes one folding station in which a sheet can be folded zig-zag consecutively along a first dimension and in a second direction at right angles to said first dimensions. A control device automatically sets the folding device to a first folding program intended for folding an unfolded sheet, or a second folding program intended for folding a sheet already folded in one direction.

An apparatus for folding and depositing drawings having legends, the apparatus having two folding stations for folding drawings in two directions perpendicular to one another, and a collecting station for collecting the folded drawings with their legend on the same edge. The folding stations fold drawings of a first group, formats (A1 and A2) fed in the transverse direction, first lengthwise and then transversely, and fold drawings of a second group, formats (A0 and A3) fed in the longitudinal direction, first transversely and then lengthwise. Depending upon the group to which they belong, drawings to be folded are folded differently in the two folding stations, namely placing the folding stations selectively in operating states in which the folding stations apply each of the folds to be formed consecutively in directions which are the inverse of one another.

Apparatus for folding sheets of different formats

An apparatus, such as in a copying machine, by which an original sheet and a light-sensitive sheet can be fed along separate feed paths toward and onto one another and then one upon another through a station for exposure of the light-sensitive sheet to a light image of the original sheet is provided with a control system, including a separating device disposed to act on the sheets passing from the exposure station, whereby after an exposure the original sheet can be led away from the light-sensitive sheet irrespective of the relative position of the sheets fed for the exposure. A detector sensing the leading edge of an original sheet in its own feed path, activates the control system which in turn puts the separating device into operation after the lapse of a period of time corresponding to the time of transport of the leading edge of the original sheet from the detector up to the separating device. The separating device is de-activated, as by another detector disposed in a sheet discharge path, when the leading portion of the separated original sheet passes out of the range of action of the separating device.

An apparatus for developing electrostatic charge images on a moving support, e.g. on a photoconductive belt, by a developing powder composed of toner particles and magnetizable carrier particles, which powder is transported by a rotating magnetic roller from a reservoir through a developing zone where a magnetic roller from a reservoir through a developing zone where a magnetic brush is formed between the roller and the support, is provided with means for preventing variations of the quality of the developed images by supplying more developing powder to the brush than the roller transports through the developing zone. The excess powder flows away over a partition into a trough containing a rotor, to be remixed with powder from the reservoir and propelled by the rotor into a narrowing passage defined between the partition and the side of the magnetic roller that moves toward the support. Carrier particles staying on the support are removed by a magnetic field at the adjacent side of a nonmagnetic cylinder that bears through elastic end rings against the support at a location beyond the developing zone. Powder transported from the brush by the magnetic roller is received in a first mixing trough of a pair delivering into the reservoir, to which trough fresh developing powder is supplied for maintaining at a required value the concentration of toner particles in the developing powder. That concentration in the powder being returned on the magnetic roller is sensed, and the supply of fresh powder controlled, by an optical detecting device kept at a constant temperature above the ambient temperature. Further, frictional heat generated in powder mixed in the reservoir is dissipated by a cooling fluid passed through a double-walled bottom of the reservoir.
