A lubrication system for supplying lubricant to a plurality of antifriction bearings composed of inner and outer bearing rings and a plurality of rolling elements mounted between the rings. The lubricant is intermittently supplied to the region of the rolling elements, with the amount of each intermittent supply being determined as a function of operating data which are continuouslu acquired from the bearing.

Method for a controlled supply of lubricant to an antifriction bearing

A lubrication system for supplying lubricant to a plurality of antifriction bearings, and which has a lubricant supply tank and a closed circuit lubricant supply line having two ends which communicate with the tank. A pump circulates the lubricant through the line, and a pressure regulating valve in the downstream end portion of the line maintains a desired pressure in the line. A plurality of tap lines lead from the closed circuit supply line to respective bearings via a metering or controllable valve.

Yarn winding method

A yarn winding spindle is disclosed which is characterized by the ability to grip the interior of a tubular bobbin during the winding of the yarn thereon and then release the bobbin to facilitate doffing. The spindle comprises a cylindrical support member which is composed of a plurality of axially spaced apart annular entrainment members and a plurality of annular, elastic clamping members mounted between adjacent entrainment members. The elastic members are configured and internally self-biased so as to assume a radially extended position to engage the bobbin in the absence of an external force being applied thereto, and to assume a radially retracted position to release the bobbin upon a biasing force being applied thereto.

Winding spindle

The invention relates to a high speed yarn winding machine for winding a filament yarn, and which comprises a motor-driven winding spindle and a contact roll rotatingly resting against the surface of a yarn package being wound on the spindle, and with the contact roll serving to guide the yarn onto the package. The contact roll is adapted to be raised from the package surface during a package doff, and it can be rotatably driven while in its raised position by an air turbine wheel, which is co-axially connected to the contact roll. The wheel is provided with two annular rings of recesses which are concentric to its axis, and an air supply system is provided which is able to selectively direct compressed air toward either one of the two rings of recesses, to thereby permit the turbine wheel and thus the contact roll to be rotated in either direction. Thus the rotational speed of the contact roll may be maintained during a package doff, or reduced in speed or stopped in case of a malfunction in the yarn transfer to a new package.

Yarn winding machine

A yarn withdrawal apparatus and method is disclosed for temporarily withdrawing a freshly spun and continuously advancing yarn to a waste container when the spinning operation is interrupted, and for thereafter threading the yarn onto the feed godet or winder of the spinning machine. The apparatus comprises a yarn advancing means in the form of a rotating tapered roll, which is adapted to have the yarn looped thereabout. The tapered roll comprises a yarn inlet portion and a yarn exit portion, with the inlet portion being designed to initially contact the advancing yarn. The cone angle of the inlet portion is predetermined so as to cause the yarn to initially engage the rotating roll without lateral slippage and thereby permit the rotating roll to exert a strong tension on the yarn. The yarn subsequently slips laterally along the yarn inlet portion of the roll and toward the yarn exit portion, and it is then tangentially withdrawn from the roll. The yarn exit portion of the roll has a cone angle which is predetermined to prevent the yarn from sliding therealong to the end of the roll.

Yarn withdrawal apparatus and method

A yarn withdrawal apparatus is disclosed for temporarily withdrawing a freshly spun and continuously advancing yarn to a waste container when the spinning operation is interrupted, and for thereafter threading the yarn onto the feed godet or winder of the spinning machine. The apparatus comprises a yarn advancing means in the form of a rotating roll, a yarn delivery tube including a yarn outlet opening, a yarn suction tube including a yarn inlet opening, and with the yarn delivery tube and yarn suction tube being mounted so as to permit relative rotation thereof about the axis of the roll and between a yarn catching position wherein the outlet opening and inlet opening are aligned, and a drawing-off position. Thus the relative rotation causes a yarn passing from the delivery tube to the suction tube to be at least partially looped about the rotating roll.

Yarn withdrawal apparatus

A yarn withdrawal apparatus is disclosed for temporarily withdrawing a freshly spun and continuously advancing yarn to a waste container when the spinning operation is interrupted, and for thereafter threading the yarn onto the feed godet or winder of the spinning machine. The apparatus includes a yarn advancing means in the form of one or more rolls and which is adapted to have the yarn looped thereabout. Drive means is provided for rotating the roll or rolls of the advancing means, and a suction means is provided for withdrawing the yarn from the advancing means. In one embodiment, the yarn is initially drawn into the suction means, and then looped about the rotating roll of rolls which serve to frictionally engage the yarn and apply a high yarn tension, and so that the yarn is then in condition to be threaded onto the feed godet of the spinning machine. In another embodiment, a pneumatic system is provided which serves to loop the yarn about a single rotating roll and then guide the yarn into the suction means, and so that the roll again serves to impart a high degree of tension to the yarn.

Yarn withdrawal appratus and method

Advancing yarn is directed onto a larger diameter portion of a tapered yarn winding roll having a smaller diameter free end. The yarn is formed into windings that extend about the roll and that are continuously displaced along its length toward and, in most embodiments also from, its free end. The displacement of the yarn windings may be assisted by air currents and/or the force of gravity. The tension of the advancing yarn may be controlled by varying the axial location of its initial engagement with the roll. The apparatus may consist either of a single yarn withdrawal unit or of multiple interconnected units.

A traversing yarn guide is disclosed which is adapted for reciprocating an advancing yarn or the like to form a wound package on a yarn winding machine of the type which includes a drive roll having a cross spiraled groove, and an adjacent pair of guide rails. The yarn guide includes a body member composed of an elongate follower which is adapted to be received in the groove of the cross spiraled drive roll, and two pairs of guide arms which extend laterally outwardly from the follower, and which have outer edges defining a generally diamond shaped outline in plan view. The yarn guide further includes a yarn engaging member having a slot for receiving and guiding the advancing yarn, and the arms of the body member are composed of a relatively resilient material which provides flexibility to the arms and which has been found to reduce abrasion and fatigue damage and thereby increase the service life of the guide.
