The invention relates to a cover for closing a mouth of a receptacle holding an airbag with at least one airbag flap, wherein the cover has at least one breakaway line at the edge of the airbag flap(s) in order to enable the unfolding of the airbag, and wherein the airbag flap(s) is/are connected via a hinge element to a flap support wall in a molded manner, which is in contact with the inner surface of the receptacle wall in particular in a secured manner, wherein the flap support wall runs around the inner surface of the receptacle wall such that at least the four corners of the receptacle near the airbag flap(s) are covered.

Airbag cover

The invention relates to a covering assembly over the chute channel of an airbag comprising having an airbag through-opening, which is closed by an airbag flap and an, in particular sprayed-on, covering made of plastic and secured over the airbag flap, wherein the covering has at least one target break line at the edge of the airbag flap in order to enable the unfolding of the airbag cushion, and wherein the airbag flap is connected via a joining point to a flap support wall in a moulded manner, which is in contact with the inner side of the chute channel wall in a secured manner, wherein the inner-side end of the flap support wall is bent outwards with a V-shaped or U-shaped cross-section, and with these hook-shaped bent region, same is inserted in the plastic material of the chute channel wall or engages under the lower end of the chute channel wall.

The invention relates to an airbag flap covering the mouth of an airbag receptacle, wherein an airbag outer cover overlies the airbag flap and the airbag flap is connected via a hinge element to a flap support wall in a molded manner, which is in turn secured to the airbag outer covering and/or to a wall of the receptacle, wherein the airbag flap and the flap support wall consist of the same flat plastic, in particular a composite material, wherein a direction-fin-guiding structure, in the form of numerous slits and/or openings, is provided in the flat plastic, in particular in the composite material, in the region of the hinge element and/or to one or both sides of the hinge element, in the flat plastic, in particular in the composite material, and thereby creates at least one stretch region in the material in the direction in which the airbag flap moves outward through the airbag cushion.

Airbag flap

The invention relates to an airbag assembly comprising an airbag through-opening arranged over the chute channel of the airbag, which opening is closed by at least one airbag flap and an, in particular sprayed-on, covering made of plastic and secured over the airbag flap, wherein the covering has at least one target break line at the edge of the airbag flap in order to enable the unfolding of the airbag cushion, and wherein the airbag flap is connected via a joining point to a flap support wall in a moulded manner, which is in contact with the inner side of the chute channel wall in a secured manner, wherein am additional flat element is inserted (as a cover) in the chute channel between the airbag cushion and the airbag flap, which flat element at least partially overs the airbag flap and the inner side of the chute channel wall.

Airbag assembly

A composite material provided in the form of a sheet material includes at least one textile layer as a cover for an airbag. The cover is arranged to form at least one flap with a hinge which includes a hinge region. One side or both sides of the at least one textile layer includes a plastics coating. A melting point of the plastics coating is lower than a melting point of the at least one textile layer. The hinge region is arranged to form at least one single or double fold along the hinge so that the sheet material contacts itself once or twice. In a region of the at least one single or double fold, areas of the plastics coating are arranged to contact each other and, via a prior introduction of heat or a subsequent introduction of heat, are melted onto each other.

Composite material for an airbag cover

The invention relates to a covering for an airbag having at least one airbag that is articulated on the stationary covering region surrounding the airbag cover by a textile hinge, wherein the airbag cover and the covering region surrounding the airbag cover are formed from a sheet material made of plastic, the rear face of which supports a textile surface element having sacrificial threads () that extend substantially at right angles to the hinge axis () and tear in the region (A) of the hinge when the airbag is activated, and wherein the textile surface element also has stop threads that, when the airbag is activated, allow the airbag cover to pivot about the hinge axis () without tearing in the region of the hinge in order to hold the airbag cover securely after activation of the airbag, wherein the non-tearing stop threads are arranged such that said threads are compressed in the form of corrugations and/or loops only in region (A) of the hinge and therefore have a greater length there than in the regions (B) outside the hinge and the region compressed in the form of corrugations and/or loops is located in the plane of the textile surface element.

Covering for an airbag

An airbag enclosure has a cover formed by a rigid panel having a portion forming a flap defined by a plurality of sides all formed as breakaway lines and one of which also forms a hinge. The cover is made of a thermoplastic laminate that has a plurality of first layers alternating with a plurality of second layers. The first layers each consist of a homogenous thermoplastic film of a polyolefin copolymer, polyester, or a polyester copolymer. The second layers each consist of an array of strips, fibers, or filaments of polypropylene or polyester.

Airbag cover with at least one flap

An airbag cover hinge has load-absorption capabilities that provide a controlled release of the airbag cover during airbag deployment. The hinge has a textile base structure formed of longitudinal and cross threads. High strength, load-bearing stop threads are integrated into the textile base structure. When the airbag deploys, the longitudinal threads eventually tear, while the stop threads extend in length and function as a hinge that holds the torn parts of the textile base structure together.

Airbag cover hinge with force-absorbing system

The invention relates to a hinge for an airbag cover, having a planar textile element as a hinge between the cover of the airbag and an adjacent airbag cover region, for example in the interior of a motor vehicle, and to a region of the planar textile element which faces a carrier of the airbag cover and is embedded in a matrix which is connected to the cover, and a region of the planar textile element which is not embedded in the matrix.

The invention relates to an airbag cover hinge having a textile hinge that can be connected both to the airbag cover and to a carrier part surrounding the airbag cover, wherein the hinge comprises two different systems absorbing forces, which is to say one textile surface structure as a system that is combined to a second system with further warp threads, wherein the warp threads tear under a tensile load on the airbag cover hinge as a first force absorbing system.
