A method is proposed for producing a CMC-component () comprising at least the steps of pyrolizing () a green body () made of a fiber ()-reinforced thermoplastic material () and infiltrating () the pyrolized green body by a liquid carbide forming substance (). The fibers () of the green body () are arranged in one or several strands (), each of these strands () having a main extension direction. The lengths of the fibers () of each strand () are larger than the overall length (L) of the green body () along the main extension direction of this strand ().

Elastic roller and process for producing elastic roller. The elastic roller includes a hard roller core and an elastic coating layer at an outer side of the hard roller core. The elastic coating layer includes an elastic matrix material and fillers imbedded in the matrix material, and at least a portion of the fillers include metallic fillers. The process includes combining at least one metallic filler into an elastic matrix material and applying the combined elastic matrix material and at least one metallic filler onto an outer side of the hard roller core to form an elastic coating layer.

Roll for smoothing paper webs including a hard roll core and an elastic covering layer provided on an outside of the core. The elastic covering includes an elastic matrix material, and is structured to operate within a temperature range between approximately 25&#xb0; C. and 150&#xb0; C. The elastic covering is further structured to operate with a nip frequency of between about 0.3 Hz and 5 Hz, and to be regionally compressible and to operate with a surface compression amplitude of between about 15 &#x3bc;m and 50 &#x3bc;m. The covering is further structured for a total dissipated energy of less than approximately 0.9J/cm.

A compound material including fibers which are embedded in a thermoplastic matrix has a free surface to be treated. The material has one or more capillary spaces extending between the fibers, which spaces are at least partly formed by communicating pores and which are open towards the free surface. An average diameter of the pores is greater than, equal to or not substantially less than the fiber diameter.

Roll and process for producing roll including a hard roll core, and a resilient covering layer, including a matrix material, located on an outer side of the hard roll core. The matrix material includes a soft metal. The process includes producing a matrix material comprising a soft metal, and applying the soft metal matrix material onto an outer side of the hard roll core, thereby forming the resilient covering layer.

The fiber compound material contains at least one fiber component and at least two matrix components of different material classes which have different thermo-mechanical properties. In a manufacture of the compound material two matrix components can be liquefied and fiber filaments of the fiber component can be wetted by the liquefied matrix components. In this in the liquefied state the one matrix component is not soluble in the other. In a consolidation of the compound material one of the previously liquefied matrix components can be hardened out irreversibly to a duroplastic whereas the other of the previously liquefied matrix components remains meltable.

The method for the manufacture of unidirectionally fiber reinforced thermoplastic bands comprises a pressure impregnation of a fiber strand in a bath with a dispersion of thermoplastic particles. Heat treatments for the drying of the strand and a melting on of the particles taken up by the strand follow the pressure impregnation. The strand is drawn through the bath at a predetermined draw-off speed about a plurality of deflection elements. The dispersion of the bath is largely held in a stationary state, namely through the supply of an infeed dispersion with a first particle concentration and through an initial setting of a second particle concentration in the bath: The infeed dispersion is fed in continuously or periodically, with the first particle concentration being held constant. A corresponding feeding in of a dispersion of higher particle concentrations as well as an additional amount of dispersing medium is possible. The second particle concentration is set to a value which remains constant through an automatic self-setting alone. In this the two named concentrations depend in an empirically determinable manner on a thermoplastic content of the band to be achieved and on the draw-off speed.
