There is disclosed an assembly mountable as a unit in a wire-tieing machine, including a bearing block in which a twister pinion is rotatably disposed. Wire restraining yoke members and cooperating cutter members are mounted to opposite ends of the bearing block.

Wire twister-cutter assembly

A grooming ring on a grooming ring carrier in which the grooming ring extends around a grooming space while being displaced axially to enable all surfaces of the ring to be free of obstruction in at least one direction laterally of a surface of the carrier from which the ring extends. This allows for simultaneous molding of carrier and ring without a mold core for forming the grooming space. In practice, the ring may be formed from two ring portions which are displaced axially relative to each other. The grooming ring carrier may be either a fanning strip or a terminal block.

An arrangement of fanning strip and terminal block having mutually engageable interlocking structures which allow for mounting of the fanning strip upon and disconnection of the fanning strip from the terminal block from one side of the terminal block only. In practical constructions, the interlocking structures are rails and complementary slots. These may be of any suitable cross-section, e.g. L-shaped or dovetail shaped.

A plug-in module may be added to terminals on an existing telephone distribution frame. Electronic modules may be added to the plug-in modules to provide surge and lightning protection and the like. This way a distribution frame built to protect electromechanical voice signal transmission standards may be upgraded to protect electronic transmission data signal transmission capabilities, both now and in the future.

Electrically protected connector for telephone distribution frames

A bridging link for connecting terminals in an electrical terminal device in which a body of the link provides a plug body for insertion into a telephone jack. Electrically conductive lines extend from terminal positions in the plug body to terminal positions spaced from the plug body. The conductive lines may be electrically conductive strips extending through passages which are preferably open at one side for lateral insertion of the strips. A latch arrangement is advantageously used to connect the link to the telephone jack and the latch arrangement is spaced from the plug body.

Electrical bridging link for connecting terminals within a terminal

An aerial terminal has an increased density of connections and can be mounted alternatively on a pole or a cable. It has a housing with parallel side walls and end walls and a central wall extending across between the side walls, forming back and front chambers. A plurality of apertures extend in rows in the central wall and terminals are positioned in the apertures. The terminals are arranged in pairs, the front ends being in the front chamber and the back ends in the back chamber. Protector modules can be provided as part of a terminal for each pair. An openable cover and support brackets are also provided.

A housing for a telephone line protector comprises a well in which are positioned two spring biased members. A first spring biased member is adjacent to the back end of the well and biased away therefrom. The second spring biased member is axially aligned with and biased away from the first spring biased member. One line conductor is connected to the first spring biased member and the other line conductor is connected to a terminal at the back end. The spring bias of the second spring biased member is stronger than the bias of the first spring biased member. Insertion of a protector module first causes movement of the first spring biased member to contact the terminal at the back end, and then moves the second spring biased member relative to the first spring biased member. The protector module contacts a ground connection at the front end of the well as it is inserted.

A connector has a rectangular box-like form body with end walls and side walls and a transverse wall dividing the body into front and back parts. The transverse wall extends from one end wall to the other but at the sides extends backwards a distance from the side walls and then extends laterally to the back ends of the side walls. This forms a central web portion having a channel along each side and a back chamber between the channels. Terminals are positioned in the central web portion. A stub cable enters through an end wall into the back chamber, the cable conductors connected to rear ends of the terminals. Drop wire conductors can enter through grommets to connect to the front ends of the terminals. A cover is pivotally mounted at one end of the body. The back chamber is filled with potting compound after connection of the cable conductors to the rear ends of the terminals.
