A flush device in which a first passageway extends between a first opening in a body and a first port in said body, a second passageway extends between a second opening in said body and a second port in said body, a capillary pathway provides communication between said first and second passageways, a retainer for compressing a resilient pad into a sealing relationship with said ports and a projection is provided for pulling the pad away from the ports so as to open the seal between the pad and the ports and permit a large flow of fluid between said first and second passageways.

Flush device

A valve assembly in which the ends of a tube having a passageway extending therethrough are respectively mounted in cavities in separate housings each of which has a passageway communicating with its cavity. An elastic sleeve is placed about the adjacent ends of the housings and a path is formed in the housings that bypasses the tube. One housing is attached to its end of the tube so as to move therewith. An actuator is connected to the housings so as to position the other end of the tube against the bottom of the cavity in the other housing. This forms a seal that prevents fluid flow in the bypass. When the actuator is squeezed, the housings are moved apart so as to open the seal and permit a fast flow of fluid through the bypass.

A valve assembly for permitting a continuous small flow of fluid to pass through it via a passageway in a valve stem and a fast flow of fluid to pass through it via a path between the valve stem and a housing containing resilient bellows only when the bellows are compressed.

A perfusion meter comprising a hand-held battery operated optical plethysmograph displays an indication of blood flow rate in response to the time-varying optical transmission characteristics of an ear or other organ. This indication, called the perfusion index, is proportional to both the amplitude and frequency of variations in the dynamic optical transmission characteristics of the ear or other organ.
