The present disclosure is generally directed to an approach for spatializing audio from a received radio transmission to allow a radio operator to audibly perceive audio from the received radio transmission as if originating from a direction that corresponds to a physical location of the transmitting radio. On the receiving side, also referred to herein as a receive (RX) pipeline, a radio device configured consistent with the present disclosure includes utilizing an orientation tracker, and head related transform functions to generate a binaural representation of an incoming transmission such that audio associated with the same gets spatialized to sound as if coming from a direction corresponding to the transmitting radio. On the transmit side, also referred to herein as the transmit (TX) pipeline, includes utilizing a location sensor (e.g., a time of flight and/or GPS sensor) and encoding scheme such that radio transmissions include associated geographical location data.

Techniques for spatializing audio received in RF transmissions and a system and method implementing same

A conforming eddy current testing (ECT) probe for performing eddy current testing when placed on the surface of a test object. An eddy current array is fabricated on a flexible substrate. A shape metal alloy (SMA) piece is manufactured to have an original shape that conforms to the surface of the test object, and then affixed to the substrate. The SMA piece has as much or more flexibility than the substrate, so that it can be manipulated into position. Just prior to testing, the SMA piece is actuated to revert to its original shape.

The present invention relates to the use of additive manufacturing as applied to radiation shielding. In particular, additive manufacturing formulations are described which provide shielding for neutron and photon radiation and which can extend the useful operation life of remote sensing devices utilized to conduct surveillance and inspection work where such radiation fields are present.

Methods of testing the material of a metal object made by additive manufacturing. An electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) is used to transmit long duration acoustic signals into the object, and to receive response signals representing resonance of acoustic waves within the material. At least one resonance peak is identified and used to determine attenuation and/or wave velocity. These values can then be used to determine material properties, such as porosity, Shear Modulus, Young's Modulus, or Poisson's Ratio.

In some embodiments, the reinforcement systems include a print head assembly including a print head that is configured to form a plurality of layers of an additively manufactured article, and a reinforcement head. The reinforcement head may be configured to form at least one reinforcement element on or within a working layer of the plurality of layers formed by the print head. Additive manufacturing systems including such reinforcement systems and methods of additive manufacturing using those reinforcement systems are also disclosed.

Reinforcement system for additive manufacturing, devices and methods using the same

An economical, flexible, magnetostrictive sensor (MsS) probe assembly for use on longitudinal cylindrical structures, for guided-wave, volumetric inspection of the structures is described. The paired flexible plate MsS probes each include a flexible strip of magnetostrictive material that is positioned and/or adhered to the base of a generally flat, flexible, conductor coil assembly, preferably with an elastomeric adhesive. The conductor coil assembly has a core composed of a thin flexible layer of metal and a thin bendable permanent magnet circuit. The flexible core is surrounded by a flat flexible cable (FFC) that is folded and looped over the layers of the core. The exposed conductors at the ends of the FFC are shifted from each other by one conductor spacing and joined together so that the parallel conductors in the FFC form a flat, flexible, continuous coil. The probe assemblies may preferably be utilized in pairs and conformed to match the curved contours of the cylindrical surface of the structure under investigation in a manner that is specifically tailored for wire rope, cable, and anchor rod type applications.

The present disclosure relates to a device and method for pipeline inspection, The inspection device may include an exciter coil capable of providing an alternating current magnetic field and producing eddy currents. A plurality of sensors may then be provided which are capable of sensing a magnetic field produced by the eddy currents and the sensors may be engaged with a sensor shoe. The sensors may then be capable of being positioned at a first distance Dwith respect to an inner pipe wall surface and capable of providing coupling to the magnetic field produced by the eddy currents. The sensor shoe may also be capable of retracting to a second distance D, wherein D&#x3c;D. The sensor shoe may be connected to a sensor support arm wherein the support arm may be pivotably attached to a fixed hub and to a control arm which control arm may then be pivotably attached to a driven hub.

Pipeline inspection using variable-diameter remote-field eddy current technology

The present disclosure relates to a variable diameter electromagnetic coil. The coil may include a coil winding containing inner and outer winding layers. The coil may incorporate a first hub including one or a plurality of inner supports, one of the inner supports connected to a location on the inner winding layer. A second hub may then be provided including one or a plurality of outer supports, one of the outer supports connected to a location on the outer winding layer. One of the first or second hubs may be capable of rotating to cause the coil winding to wind or unwind. An interconnect hub may then be provided which may be capable of providing electrical connection to the coil winding.
