Disclosed are vise embodiments designed to lower manufacturing cost and work well in an automated CNC milling production environment. The disclosed embodiments include rigid vises having high clamp force and low internal friction. The embodiments include features for resisting the ingress of metal chips into sensitive moving parts through the use of commonly available seals and the flow of CNC coolant to flush metal chips away from the vise.

Vise

Disclosed are mechanical interfaces of an end-of-arm-tool (EOAT) and part-gripping devices. The EOAT mechanical interface is for operatively coupling a gripper actuator to the part-gripping device. The part-gripping device mechanical interface is matable to the EOAT mechanical interface for operatively coupling the EOAT to the part-gripping device. Among other improvements, also disclosed are improved gripper fingers.

An improved adjuster for a clutch having an expanding friction disk. The improved adjuster allows desirable characteristics of a clutch pressure plate to be maintained while allowing an operator to bias the pressure plate into proper position to accommodate the function of the expanding friction disk.

An improved clutch hub assembly is disclosed. The improved clutch hub assembly provides improved wear resistance at the interfaces between separator plates and a clutch hub while allowing an operator to have improved clutch lever control and modulation when manually engaging or disengaging the clutch system.

A system and method for using a robotic arm and a part gripping jaw to tend a CNC machine. A robotic arm picks up a part gripping jaw and used the jaw to grip a part, and moves the part into a vise in the CNC machine. The part gripping jaw has features which the vise engages, and secures the part in the part gripping jaw for processing in the CNC machine. The system and method includes a novel racking system, robotic end of arm tool, jaw grippers and vise system. The jaw grippers that hold the part are moved from the rack system, with the part to be processed, by the robot, to the vise where the vise uses the jaw grippers to secure the part for processing. After the part is processed, the robot removes the part from the vise with the jaw grippers and stores the part back into the rack system using the jaw grippers.

An improved liner and friction disk for a clutch basket is disclosed. The improved liner is easily retrofitted into a typical clutch basket and is held in place without fasteners or adhesives or special changes to the clutch basket. The improved liner is held in place without consideration to the outer diameter of the basket allowing the liner to work with a wider range of clutch basket designs and sizes. The liner provides an improved wear surface for the clutch basket's engagement surface with the driving friction surface. A friction disk with tabs adapted to fit inside the narrowed space provided by the improved liner is also disclosed.

An improved clutch pack is disclosed. The clutch pack incorporates liners, improved driving friction disks and driven disks where the thickness of the improved driving friction disks and driven disks are selected in order to allow more driving friction disks and more driven disks to be used within the improved clutch pack while maintaining approximately the same overall height as compared to the standard clutch pack the vehicles clutch system was designed for.

An improved expanding friction disk for use in a clutch of a power transmission system. The improved expanding friction disk accommodates multiple clutch pack configurations including clutch packs utilizing novel improved friction disks, is compatible with wear liners and operates with reduced friction including a reduced difference between the static and dynamic coefficients of friction in the ramp mechanism.

A clutch apparatus is disclosed having concentrically spaced inner and outer clutches. The inner and outer clutches are coupled for rotation via a coupling ring. The present invention is well suited to a configuration wherein one of the clutches is dynamically actuated and one of the clutches is manually disengageable by the operator using a clutch lever. In this configuration, the operation of the clutch lever by the operator is unaffected by the dynamically actuated clutch. The concentric configuration of the clutches is beneficial in allowing the improved clutch to occupy a similar space compared to a traditional clutch mechanism.

An adjuster is disclosed, to be placed 'in-line' to a clutch disengagement system. The adjuster provides a means for lifting the pressure plate above the clutch pack without significantly affecting the operation or feel of the clutch disengagement system to the operator. Such an adjuster is particularly well suited for use with an automatic centrifugal clutch incorporating a friction disk that expands when rotated above a threshold speed.

An improved friction plate is disclosed. The friction plate incorporates friction pads having substantially V Shaped Grooves having an angle offset to the axis of rotation to improve oil flow characteristics to the center of the friction plate to reduce parasitic drag when the clutch system is in a disengaged state. The improved friction pad design optionally incorporates a V shaped groove extending to the tab portion of the friction plate to improve the capture of oil as the friction plate rotates through an oil bath.

A novel adjustable slave cylinder is disclosed. The improved slave cylinder is particularly well suited for use with a clutch incorporating an expanding friction disk. The adjustable slave cylinder provides a means for adjusting a clutch pressure plate's position via an adjustment mechanism external to the inside of an engine.

An apparatus and system are disclosed for automatic centrifugal engagement of a pressure plate. The apparatus includes a center clutch coupled rotationally with a transmission input shaft, a clutch basket coupled rotationally with an engine output shaft, and a clutch pack disposed between the center clutch and the clutch basked. The clutch pack includes a plurality of drive plates rotationally coupled to the center clutch and a plurality of friction plates rotationally coupled with the clutch basket. The apparatus also includes a pressure plate assembly that is spring-loaded and disposed between the center clutch and the clutch basket. The pressure plate assembly comprises a pressure plate, a spring plate, and a spring disposed between the pressure plate and the spring plate. The system includes the apparatus and a manual override capable of use with cable actuated and hydraulic actuated clutch levers.
