A static mixer is disclosed. The static mixer comprises a housing () defining an internal mixing cavity () that longitudinally extends along a central axis between an inlet () and an outlet () and is adapted for axial flow of a fluid therethrough. The static mixer also comprises a mixing element () disposed within the mixing cavity (). The mixing element () is configured to be free from an impingement surface oriented substantially perpendicular to a main direction of fluid flow through the internal mixing cavity (). The mixing element () comprises an elongated mixing blade that is oriented longitudinally within the mixing cavity () and comprises a nose axially oriented toward the inlet (). The static mixer may comprise a heat-exchanging jacket integrally formed with the housing (). An additive manufacturing system comprising the static mixer, and methods of making and using the same, are also disclosed.

Static mixer

The present disclosure provides a mechanically-actuated tool for cutting a tissue graft having a hollow core and methods for use thereof. A portion of a biological structure, such as a nerve, is attached to the hollow core to form an implantable neural graft assembly. The tool has a cutter mechanism and a grasper mechanism. The grasper mechanism has one or more component(s) that open and close via an actuation mechanism, like a handle, and rotate via a controller component, like a rotatable wheel. The cutter mechanism may be a cutting tube component that harvests the tissue graft. The tool may also have an ejector mechanism to remove the tissue graft as part of the implantable neural graft assembly. Such devices and methods are particularly suitable for treating neuromas and other neural regeneration procedures.

Tool for neuroma treatment and nerve regeneration procedures

An example nasal airway tube includes a tubular body having a distal end and a proximal end. A surface at the distal end including an opening. The tubular body having an overall curvature with a radius of curvature defined relative to a longitudinal axis of the tube. An X-axis is defined by the longitudinal axis of the tube, and a Y-axis extends perpendicularly from the longitudinal axis and has a positive direction defined outwardly relative to the radius of curvature. At least a portion of the opening faces outwardly relative to the radius of curvature. A vector normal to a plane defined by the opening includes a positive Y-coordinate.

Nasal airway device and kit

A dynamic balloon angioplasty system for applying a dynamic pressure to fracture hardened materials embedded within an elastic conduit. The system having a pressure source system outputting at least a first predetermined pressure from a pressure source outlet, and an angioplasty unit fluidly coupled to the pressure source outlet receiving at least the first predetermined pressure. The angioplasty unit having an angioplasty inflation device, an angioplasty balloon connector, and an oscillating mechanism selectively actuated to output a plurality of pressure pulses to the angioplasty balloon via a fluid communication path. A control system is configured to determine an optimal hydraulic pressure oscillation frequency and amplitude for a given procedure and output a control signal to the oscillating mechanism, and monitor a pressure signal to detect fracture of the hardened material within the elastic conduit or system failure or leakage.

A method of forming a porous three-dimensional (3D) is disclosed. The method comprises (I) printing a first composition on a substrate () with the nozzle () of the apparatus () to form at least one first filament () comprising the first composition, (II) selectively controlling the distance and/or the speed such that the at least one first filament coils on the substrate to give a first layer on the substrate, the first layer comprising a coiled filament, optionally repeating steps I) and II) with independently selected composition(s) for any additional layer(s), and (III) exposing the layer(s) to a solidification condition. A porous three-dimensional (3D) article formed in accordance with the method is also disclosed.

A method of two-phase atherectomy for removal of plaque within an artery forming a stenosis including a first phase of rotational drilling by exerting a rotational force on a cutter to form a channel within the plaque having a diameter substantially equal to a diameter of the cutter&#x2014;the cutter being rotated at a first rotational speed sufficient to maintain rotation of the cutter about a stationary rotational axis&#x2014;and a second phase of orbital impact by exerting a rotational force on the cutter to result in radial orbital motion of the cutter within the channel resulting in periodic impact of the cutter upon the plaque to form micro-fractures within the plaque and enlarge the diameter of the channel to a diameter substantially greater than the diameter of the cutter&#x2014;the cutter being rotated at a second rotational speed to result in the radial orbital motion of the cutter.

Disclosed are three-dimensional parts, such as orthotics and prosthetics, having sinusoidal wave pattern infill structures first and second boundary walls. Also disclosed are printers or systems configured to manufacture such parts, as well as methods of manufacturing such parts. The sinusoidal wave pattern infill structures are formed between, and normal to, the first and second boundary walls and are configured to provide locally tunable structural properties in different regions of the part.

An everter device to facilitate preparation of ends of arterial segments for end-to-end microvascular anastomosis. The device includes structure that provides sufficient support to prevent unwanted buckling of arterial tissue. The everter device offsets the tendency of the arterial tissue wall to recover its natural shape and fall off securement posts or pins of a coupler ring. The structure may be in the form of an intraluminal catheter balloon. Alternately, the structure may be in the form of a plunger. Alternately, the structure may be in the form of a radially expanding member provided on a shaft. The device further has a contoured surface on an everter end to evert a free end of arterial tissue over a coupler ring, and to cause the posts or pins of the coupler ring to pierce through the everted arterial tissue. The everter end is provided with one or more openings therein, such as a circumferential slot, to receive the posts or pins of the coupler ring.

Device to aid in arterial microvascular anastomosis

A portable compact tourniquet includes a pivot housing, a strap carriage that is linearly translatable relative to the pivot housing, and a screw assembly. When the screw assembly is operated, the strap carriage away from the pivot housing, thus tightening a tourniquet strap that is attached to the strap carriage and to the pivot housing.

The present system is directed in various embodiments to rotational atherectomy systems and methods generally. More specifically, a method for methodically softening and disrupting calcification within the wall of a biological conduit or lumen. This result is achieved by use of at least one eccentric head that, during high-speed rotation within the exemplary lumen, produces a combination of a low-frequency orbital motion comprising a force that is exerted against the lumen wall, with concomitant deflection of same, and a high-frequency pulsatile frequency, also with concomitant exertion of force against the lumen wall and deflection of same. These force-driven deflections produce shockwaves within the layers of the exemplary artery's wall layers, resulting in systematic disruptions of any calcification within the intimal and/or medial layers of the subject artery. In addition, any calcification within the occlusion is also softened and disrupted, increasing compliance of the vessel and/or lesion.

Methods and systems for disrupting calcified walls of biological conduits and calcified lesions therein

A face mask that may be used for bag-mask ventilation, during the induction of general anesthesia for example, and allows for two-handed or ambidextrous use. The face mask includes a dome connected to a deformable rim, which forms an enclosed air space when the rim is pressed against a patient's face. The dome has a connection port and a contoured outer surface adjacent the connection port. The contoured outer surface includes contour features such as a pair of crossed composite recesses which may each receive a different one of a user's thumbs. The connection port is aligned with the patient's mouth when the mask is in use and an adapter may be included that attaches to the connection port and provides a ventilation port as well as an intubation port that is aligned with the mouth.

Ambidextrous ergonomic face mask

An active exoskeletal spinal orthosis that can reduce the spinal compression and muscle effort involved in resisting gravitational bending moments. The spinal orthosis includes upper and lower members that fit around the body in the area of the spine. Actuators extend between the upper and lower members. By applying a corrective moment, a distraction force, or both to a user via the actuators, the spinal orthosis allows for supported multi-planar maneuverability within a set range of motion. A controller activates the actuators based on sensor feedback that is indicative of pressure or some other sensed physical parameter related to the bending moment.

Active exoskeletal spinal orthosis and method of orthotic treatment

A direct-metal deposition (DMD) processing stage and a 5DOF (degree of freedom) dry micro-EDM (mEDM) stage are integrated to provide the submicron scale resolution necessary for the ultra-precision processing of work pieces. The DMD processing stage includes optical feedback for dimensional control utilizing a high-power, fiber-coupled diode laser with fast response time and small beam parameter product. The electrical discharge machining (EDM) stage is a dry EDM stage using an inert gas with appropriate dielectric properties to perform the surface finishing operations. The system further includes one or more surface treatment operations to obtain a desired level of surface hardness or wear resistance and/or to minimize the distortion induced in treating the surface.
