A steel sheet container wherein the bottom wall is integral with the body and wherein the container is formed by a drawing operation with there being three drawings of the metal in sequence. Most particularly, the steel sheet has on the opposite surfaces thereof a coating of tin with the surfaces of the steel sheet being very smooth so as to permit the formation of the tin with a matte finish. The finish of the steel sheet should range generally from on the order of 10 microinch minimum to 30 microinch maximum.

This disclosure has to do with an easy opening container end wherein substantially the entire end panel is removed. The removable panel portion has rigidly attached thereto a pull tab which is first utilized as a lever to obtain the initial rupture of the end panel and then as a handle to tear out the removable panel portion. The removable panel portion is provided with a weakening line immediately adjacent the connection between the pull tab and the removable panel portion for the purpose of first venting the interior of a container and then forming a hinge which will permit the necessary pivoting of the pull tab relative to the end panel.

Lever action tab system for easy opening ends

A can which has one end thereof closed by means of a cup-shaped end unit which is provided with a band of adhesive. The band of adhesive is of sufficient width or thickness so as to receive a raw edge of a terminal end of a can body to mask the same while at the same time providing a seal between the end unit and the can body.

Bonded can top

A score having improved anti-fracture characteristics formed by a scoring punch including inclined sides merging at a flat bottom face. At least one of the sides is formed with a horizontal ledge parallel to the flat scoring face and located in vertical spaced relation from the face.
