The present invention relates to a connector for connection through a flexible barrier. The connector comprises at least a device pad and at least a landing pad. The device pad is arranged in close proximity to the landing pad for contactless connection through the flexible barrier to transmit and/or receive data and/or power between each other. The device pad and the landing pad are configured to attach and/or align to each other. Furthermore, a system for connection through a flexible barrier, an according method, computer program element and computer readable medium are provided.

The invention relates to a method for the detection of target components that comprise label particles, for example magnetic particles (). The method includes (a) collecting the target components at a binding surface () of a carrier (); (b) directing an input light beam (L, L, L) into the carrier such that it is totally internally reflected in an investigation region () at the binding surface (); and (c) determining the amount of light of an output light beam (L, L, L) that comprises at least some of the totally internally reflected light. Evanescent light generated during the total internal reflection is affected (absorbed, scattered) by target components and/or label particles () at the binding surface () and will therefore be missing in the output light beam (L). This can be used to determine the amount of target components at the binding surface () from the amount of light in the output light beam (L, L, L). A magnetic field generator () is optionally used to generate a magnetic field (B) at the binding surface () by which magnetic label particles () can be manipulated, for example attracted or repelled.

Method of detecting label particles

The invention relates to a carrier with a binding surface at which target components that comprise label particles, for example magnetic particles, can collect and optionally bind to specific capture elements. An input light beam (L) is transmitted into the carrier and totally internally reflected at the binding surface. The amount of light in the output light beam (L) and optionally also of fluorescence light emitted by target components at the binding surface is then detected by a light detector. Evanescent light generated during the total internal reflection is affected (absorbed, scattered) by target components and/or label particles at the binding surface and will therefore be missing in the output light beam (L). This can be used to determine the amount of target components at the binding surface from the amount of light in the output light beam (L, L, L). A magnetic field generator is optionally used to generate a magnetic field (B) at the binding surface by which magnetic label particles can be manipulated, for example attracted or repelled.

Carrier for detecting label particles

The invention relates to a method and a biosensor system () for the detection of target components (TC) in a biological sample. In a preferred embodiment, magnetic purification particles (PP) are added to the sample that can bind interfering components (IC) (if present) which interfere with the detection process. The purification particles (PP) with bound interfering components (IC) may be removed from the sample and transferred through a magneto-capillary valve (MCV) into a waste chamber ().

Biosensor for the detection of target components in a sample

The present invention discloses microfluidic devices with a valve-like structure (3), through which magnetic particles can be transported with minimal transport of fluids. This allows sequential processing of the magnetic particles.

Multi-compartment device with magnetic particles

The invention relates to a method and a device for the detection of magnetic particles () in a sample chamber (). After introduction of the sample into said sample chamber (), the magnetic particles () are first retained within the sample chamber () and kept away from the sensing surface () by an appropriate magnetic field (B) to allow for an incubation of the sample with reagents. A reference measurement may be made during this incubation period (T), preferably at the end thereof. After incubation, the magnetic particles () are allowed to contact the sensing surface () where a target measurement can be conducted.

A cartridge () and a method process target components (T, T) of a sample fluid, for example the detection of cardiac markers in blood. The cartridge () includes a reaction chamber () with a hydrophilic reaction surface (). A physical barrier () on the reaction surface (), for example a protrusion, at least partially borders an investigation region (') which includes capture probes (CP, CP) that specifically bind to target components (T, T) of the sample fluid.

Processing of a sample fluid with target components

A system and method wherein components of a reagent such as labeled antibodies are separated from a biologically active sensor surface by depositing the reagent on a carrier surface distinct from a sensor surface in a detection region. The present device provides a short, well-defined and controlled, pre-incubation time between the particles of interest in the sample fluid and the reagent, thereby increasing the reproducibility by providing all components in one detection region such as a detection chamber.

Methods and systems for detecting

A microelectronic sensor device for the detection of target components with label or magnetic particles includes a carrier with a binding surface at which target components can collect and optionally bind to specific capture elements. A sensor device () for detecting the presence of a target molecule () in a sample, is disclosed. The sensor device comprises a measurement sensor () comprising a first moiety () for forming a binding couple with a first further moiety comprising the target molecule () and a detectable label () and a reference sensor () comprising a second moiety () for forming a further binding couple with a second further moiety comprising a further detectable label ('). The sensor device is adapted to generate a first detection signal () from the detection of the detectable label () in the first further moiety bound to the first moiety () and to generate a second detection signal (&#x2032;) from the detection of the further detectable label (&#x2032;) in the second further moiety bound to the second moiety (), wherein at least during operation of the sensor device the second further moiety is expected to be present in a predefined amount such that the value of the second detection signal (&#x2032;) falls within an expected signal value window when the binding reaction of the second further moiety to the second moiety takes place as expected. An apparatus comprising such a sensor device, methods of operating the sensor device and apparatus and a sample for use with the sensor device are also disclosed.

Magnetic sensor device, method of operating such a device and sample

The invention relates to a sensing device for sensing a fluid. The sensing device comprises an inlet port () for receiving the fluid () and a measurement chamber () for sensing the fluid (). The sensing device further comprises a fluid channel () coupling the inlet port () and the measurement chamber () for transporting the fluid () from the inlet port () to the measurement chamber () and a fluid stop unit () for stopping and controllably releasing the flow of fluid between the inlet port () and the measurement chamber (). This allows stopping the fluid before reaching the measurement chamber () and controllably releasing the fluid for allowing the fluid to flow into the measurement chamber (), if the sensing device is ready for analyzing the fluid.

The invention relates to a fluid providing apparatus () for providing a fluid to an analyzing apparatus () for analyzing the fluid and to the analyzing apparatus (). The fluid providing apparatus () comprises a casing (), which has an introduction opening (), through which a fluid transferring element () is introducible into the casing () for transferring the fluid to the fluid providing apparatus (). A measurement device includes a housing and at least one display integrated in the housing. The housing includes a recess adapted for insertion of a cartridge into the housing to deliver a sample to be measured to the device. The recess has an opening at the front of the housing and a first part of the housing for insertion of the cartridge protrudes in a direction enclosing an angle with a second part of the housing.

Measurement device for body fluid analysis

A sensor device and a method for the determination of the amount of target particles at a contact surface adjacent to a sample chamber include detecting, by a detector, the target particles in the sample chamber by a sensor element, and providing at least one corresponding sensor signal. An evaluation unit determines the amount of target particles in a first zone at the contracts surface and in a second zone a distance away from the contact surface based on this sensor signal. In an optical measurement approach, frustrated total internal reflection taking place under different operating conditions, such as wavelength and/or angle of incidence, may be used to extract information about the first and second zones. In a magnetic measurement approach, different magnetic excitation fields may be used to excite magnetic target particles differently in the first and second zone.
