An intraluminal sensing system is provided that includes an intraluminal device. The intraluminal device has a flexible elongate member configured to be positioned within a body lumen of a patient, and an ultrasound sensor at a distal portion of the flexible elongate member. The ultrasound sensor is configured to emit an ultrasound pulse in a longitudinal within the body lumen, and to receive Doppler-shifted echoes from the ultrasound pulse. A processor circuit in communication with the ultrasound sensor is configured to: compute a velocity spectrum of particles moving within the body lumen based on the Doppler-shifted echoes; identify features in the velocity spectrum indicative of a lateral position or angular alignment of the ultrasound sensor within the body lumen; and output, to a display in communication with the processor circuit, positioning guidance for the intraluminal device based on the identified features in the velocity spectrum.

The present invention relates to a connector for connection through a flexible barrier. The connector comprises at least a device pad and at least a landing pad. The device pad is arranged in close proximity to the landing pad for contactless connection through the flexible barrier to transmit and/or receive data and/or power between each other. The device pad and the landing pad are configured to attach and/or align to each other. The invention relates to a method for the detection of target components that comprise label particles, for example magnetic particles (). The method includes (a) collecting the target components at a binding surface () of a carrier (); (b) directing an input light beam (L, L, L) into the carrier such that it is totally internally reflected in an investigation region () at the binding surface (); and (c) determining the amount of light of an output light beam (L, L, L) that comprises at least some of the totally internally reflected light. Evanescent light generated during the total internal reflection is affected (absorbed, scattered) by target components and/or label particles () at the binding surface () and will therefore be missing in the output light beam (L). This can be used to determine the amount of target components at the binding surface () from the amount of light in the output light beam (L, L, L). A magnetic field generator () is optionally used to generate a magnetic field (B) at the binding surface () by which magnetic label particles () can be manipulated, for example attracted or repelled.

Method of detecting label particles

The invention relates to a carrier with a binding surface at which target components that comprise label particles, for example magnetic particles, can collect and optionally bind to specific capture elements. An input light beam (L) is transmitted into the carrier and totally internally reflected at the binding surface. The amount of light in the output light beam (L) and optionally also of fluorescence light emitted by target components at the binding surface is then detected by a light detector. Evanescent light generated during the total internal reflection is affected (absorbed, scattered) by target components and/or label particles at the binding surface and will therefore be missing in the output light beam (L). This can be used to determine the amount of target components at the binding surface from the amount of light in the output light beam (L, L, L). The invention relates to a method and a biosensor system () for the detection of target components (TC) in a biological sample. In a preferred embodiment, magnetic purification particles (PP) are added to the sample that can bind interfering components (IC) (if present) which interfere with the detection process. The purification particles (PP) with bound interfering components (IC) may be removed from the sample and transferred through a magneto-capillary valve (MCV) into a waste chamber ().

The invention relates to a method and a device for the detection of magnetic particles () in a sample chamber (). After introduction of the sample into said sample chamber (), the magnetic particles () are first retained within the sample chamber () and kept away from the sensing surface () by an appropriate magnetic field (B) to allow for an incubation of the sample with reagents. A reference measurement may be made during this incubation period (T), preferably at the end thereof. After incubation, the magnetic particles () are allowed to contact the sensing surface () where a target measurement can be conducted.

The cartridge () includes a reaction chamber () with a hydrophilic reaction surface (). A physical barrier () on the reaction surface (), for example a protrusion, at least partially borders an investigation region (') which includes capture probes (CP, CP) that specifically bind to target components (T, T) of the sample fluid.

Processing of a sample fluid with target components

A system and method wherein components of a reagent such as labeled antibodies are separated from a biologically active sensor surface by depositing the reagent on a carrier surface distinct from a sensor surface in a detection region. The present device provides a short, well-defined and controlled, pre-incubation time between the particles of interest in the sample fluid and the reagent, thereby increasing the reproducibility by providing all components in one detection region such as a detection chamber.

Methods and systems for detecting

A microelectronic sensor device for the detection of target components with label or magnetic particles includes a carrier with a binding surface at which target components can collect and optionally bind to specific capture elements. An apparatus comprising such a sensor device, methods of operating the sensor device and apparatus and a sample for use with the sensor device are also disclosed.

The invention relates to a sensing device for sensing a fluid. The sensing device comprises an inlet port () for receiving the fluid () and a measurement chamber () for sensing the fluid (). The sensing device further comprises a fluid channel () coupling the inlet port () and the measurement chamber () for transporting the fluid () from the inlet port () to the measurement chamber () and a fluid stop unit () for stopping and controllably releasing the flow of fluid between the inlet port () and the measurement chamber ().
