An apparatus for placing surgical staples which are moved one after another from a staple support onto a lower die and are deformed there using an upper die, by lowering and further adjusting the upper die onto the particular staple to be placed situated on the lower die, wherein the staple is deformed by bending around the lower die and then separated from the lower die using an ejector, is described. A particularly simple and function-safe design for the ejector system is produced in that the ejector can be displaced in a straight line and is brought to rest against the limbs of the implanted staple by means of a head below the lower die when adjusting to its second position.

Apparatus for placing surgical staples

An instrument for setting wound clamps consists of first and second parts detachably connected by means of a first connection. The first part, which is a disposable part, receives a magazine containing wound clamps, and tools for deforming and implanting the wound clamps. The second part has handles for operating the tools. When the instrument is being operated, forces are generated which may cause the two parts of the instrument to become separated. A second connection between the two parts of the instrument, which connection is only effective during the operation of the instrument is, therefore, provided.

Instrument for setting wound clamps

A surgical clip for closing the margins of a wound, is disclosed, which clip consists of a bridge and two legs having cutting edges at their ends and projecting from opposite ends of the bridge. Each leg has a part formed as an arc of a circle which adjoins the bridge, and a free ended straight section including the cutting edge of the leg, extending from the arcuate part of the leg. For reducing trama when the clip is implanted and for maintaining eversion of the wound margins after the clip has been implanted, the straight sections of the legs are set at an angle in the range of 2.5.degree. to 10.degree. with respect to the axis of symmetry of the clip.

Surgical clip

There is disclosed a surgical instrument for implanting in bodily tissue, wound staples each comprising two legs and a crown connecting the legs. The staples are moved in succession out of a magazine onto an anvil, to be deformed thereon by means of a driver. The driver is lowered from a position of rest towards the staple on the anvil, and is further moved to close the staple on the anvil by bending the staple theraround, and to insert the legs of the staple into the bodily tissue. For problem-free and symmmetrical deformation of the staple, a hold-down device is lowered onto the anvil and upon deformation of the staple thereon presses the crown of the staple onto the anvil and so prevents the staple from moving laterally during its deformation.

Surgical instrument for implanting wound staples

Self-adhesive wound suture plaster with a carrier material, especially in strip form, of an elastic knitted or woven fabric, sheet or nonwoven, which is characterized in that the carrier strip extends under the action of a pulling force and, after this action of force has ended, virtually returns completely to the original length. Preferably, the carrier strip undergoes a length extension of between about 2 and 10% under the action of a pulling force of 5 N/cm, a length extension of between about 5 and 15% at 10 N/cm and a length extension of between about 15 and 30% at 20 N/cm.

Self-adhesive wound suture plaster

A device for irrigating the intestines that can be employed during surgery with an irrigating cannula for introducing a rinse and with a drain. To ensure irrigation during surgery of a section of intestine of any diameter upstream of the stenosis while avoiding any contamination of the operating field, the drain consists of an adapter connected germ-proof to a hose and of a plastic fastener securing the intestine to the adapter.
