An electrical connector for electrically connecting a central processing unit (CPU) to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a housing, a number of contacts, and a number of solder balls. The housing has a number of passageways extending passing through the housing and a number of protrusions located outside the passageways and corresponding the passageways one-to-one. A number of contacts partially are disposed in the passageways and each has a hole to match with the protrusion and secure the contacts on the housing. A number of solder balls are connected with corresponding contacts.

An electrical connector for use with an electronic package, includes a base plate and a top housing. The base plate has a number of contacts with mating portions extending upward beyond a top surface of base plate. The top housing has a plurality of through holes corresponding to the contacts and receives the mating portions. The top housing defines a pair of channels to allow the electronic package moving relative to the top housing in a horizontal direction, and then the top housing with the electronic package move relative to the base plate in a vertical direction such that the mating portions protrude from a top surface of the top housing and contact with the electronic package.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a plurality of passageways and a number of contacts restricted in the insulative housing. Each contact includes an upper contact half sliding in the passageways and a lower contact half supporting the upper contact half. The upper contact half has three curve sections and the lower contact half has two curve sections. When a force is applied to the upper contact half, the upper and lower contact halves are wiping each other and both are deflectable in vertical and transverse directions.

An electrical connector for electrically connecting a central processing unit (CPU) comprises an insulating housing having a plurality of terminals received therein and a pick-up cap removably assembled to the insulating housing for carrying and placing the CPU onto the insulating housing. The insulating housing has a plurality of receiving slots sunk from top surfaces of two sidewalls thereof and a plurality of wedge-shaped grooves disposed between the receiving slots on one same sidewall. The pick-up cap defines a plurality of hooks extending therefrom for buckling to the insulating housing. The pick-up cap also defines a plurality of latches corresponding to the receiving slots and a plurality of releasing arms corresponding to the grooves. The latches received in the receiving slots can clasp the CPU to retain the CPU on the pick-up cap and be released the CPU when the releasing arms are pulled outwardly.

An electrical connector includes a reinforcement member including a pair of tabs having an outer curved surface; a load plate including a first side, a second side opposite to the first side and a third side connecting the first side and the second side at a front location while the first side and the second side are disconnected at a rear location; a lever including a driving portion and a shaft portion running through the reinforcement member and the load plate and is rotatably connected to rear ends of the first side and the second side. The shaft portion of the lever guides along the outer curved surface of the frame so as to move the load plate forwardly or backwardly.

An electrical connector includes a socket with a number of electrical contacts and a loading mechanism surrounding the socket. The loading mechanism includes a stiffener, a load plate mounted to one end of the stiffener and rotating from an open position to a closed position, and a sliding latch mounted to an opposite end of the stiffener. The load plate has a plate portion and a tongue extending downwardly from the plate portion at said opposite end. The sliding latch moves on the stiffener in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction to lock or unlock the load plate.

The loading mechanism includes a stiffener, a load plate, and a latch mounted to opposite ends of the stiffener, respectively. The load plate and the latch rotate on opposite ends of the stiffener from an open position to a closed position. The latch defines a pair of looped sections snapping a pair of protrusions on the tongue as to lock the load plate on the stiffener at the closed position.

Each solder ball defines a gap which can be deformed to close the solder portion of the electrical contact by external force.

A socket adapted for electrically connecting an IC package and a PCB, comprising: a body mounted on the PCB for electrically connecting the IC package, a holder mounted on the PCB and beside the body and a clip for retaining the IC package in the body. The clip has two hook portions by which the clip pivotally assembles to the holder. The hook portion has an arched portion and a tab extending from the arched portion, the tab can abut against the holder to prevent the clip from over-rotation.
