A coolant pump includes a rotatable rotor shaft, a pulley wheel which co-rotates with and is supported by the rotor shaft, a pump wheel rotatably supported at the rotor shaft, and an electrically switched wedge-coupled wet friction clutch. The wedge-coupled wet friction clutch comprises a clutch support fixed to the rotor shaft, a clutch ring arranged at a proximal side of the pump wheel, a clutch disk comprising a ferromagnetic element, a static electromagnet which axially pulls the clutch disk to the clutch support into a disengaged position when the static electromagnet is energized, and a wedge coupling mechanism. The wedge coupling mechanism comprises a wedge element and a counter-wedge element which are configured to generate an axial wedge force which axially pushes the clutch disk into an engaged position against the clutch ring when the static electromagnet is not energized and the rotor shaft rotates.

A variable coolant pump for a cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine. The variable coolant pump includes a pump head having an inlet, an annular channel and an outlet; a pump housing rotatably supporting a pump shaft having an axial end; a pump blade wheel mounted on the axial end of the pump shaft and disposed in the pump head; and a plurality of adjustable guide blades arranged concentrically about the pump blade wheel between the annular channel and the pump blade wheel. Each adjustable guide blade has two longitudinal sides and outer edge and includes a first pivot, a second pivot and a third pivot. The first and second pivots extend at right angles to a respective one of the two longitudinal sides in a vicinity of the outer edge. The first and second pivots define an axis of rotation and rotatably support the respective guideblade in the pump head about the axis of rotation. The third pivot is disposed in parallel with the first and second pivots in an area in the adjustable guide blade remote from the axis of rotation and protrude into an oblong recess in an adjustment ring rotatably arranged in the pump head. The oblong recess has a radial and a tangential component.

A centrifugal pump has a housing with intake and discharge fittings at axially opposite ends. The electronic motor is supported on ribs within the pump housing and the motor casing is closed by the electronic control circuit for the motor which seals the motor against the pump liquid. The coolant thus flows around the electric motor and its control circuit.

The invention relates to an impeller of a rotary pump having an annular upper part defining a central inlet opening, a drive-adjacent disk-shaped lower part, and a plurality of blades secured between the upper and lower parts. The upper and lower parts are separate parts which secure together. Each blade is integrally formed with either the upper part or the lower part. Every other blade is formed with the upper part, and the remaining blades are formed with the lower part. Each blade has a free edge, remote from a base thereof, which has a projection which extends into a recess or opening formed in the part to which it is not integrally molded. After the upper and lower parts are assembled together, free spaces around the projections are filled with injected plastic, thereby securing the upper and lower parts together and securing the free ends of the blades. This structure and molding process have the advantages of permitting arbitrarily curved impeller blades and facilitating manufacture in a minimum number of operating steps.

The present invention relates to an electric motor having a winding support (9) for the windings of the motor stator. The winding support is formed with a cylindrical coaxial space having a first end (16) which is at least partially closed and a second end (14) which is open. A plurality of regularly spaced bars (10) are formed on said winding support (9). Certain of the bars, preferably alternate ones of the bars, are formed with an elongated, outwardly extending projection, adapted for placement thereon of a generally oval winding of the motor stator. Preferably, the partially closed first end (16) has a central opening, into which a bearing (7) for the rotor shaft (4) or a stepped end of a split bell can be inserted.

A split tube centrifugal pump comprises a pump casing divided into a pump space and a motor space, an impeller driving a conveying fluid in the pump casing, a vertically disposed shaft in the casing, the shaft being hollow and including an axial channel therein, a rotor including a channel therein, and a partition separating the pump space from the motor space. The partition includes a first aperture through which the shaft passes and a second aperture. The conveying fluid circulates between the pump space and the motor space in a circuit comprising the first aperture in the partition, the channel in the rotor, and the channel in the shaft. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the split tube centrifugal pump further comprises a filter disposed upstream or downstream of the first aperture in the partition, and a slide ring sealing associated with the second aperture and through which the vertical shaft passes.
