In a method for starting a motor vehicle having a first vehicle electrical system, to which a battery of the motor vehicle is assigned, a second vehicle electrical system, to which an electric machine of the motor vehicle is assigned, and a DC/DC converter for connecting the two vehicle electrical systems, for starting, electrical energy from the second vehicle electrical system is converted via the DC/DC converter and transferred into the first vehicle electrical system if an actual value of at least one operating parameter of the battery falls below a setpoint value prior to a starting operation to be carried out.

A converter is described, in particular a DC/DC converter for use in a motor vehicle, including: a converter circuit, which is situated between a first network and a second network to convert a direct current or alternating current at an input terminal on the input side into a direct current or alternating current at the output terminal on the output side, the direct current or alternating current on the input side and the direct current or alternating current on the output side being based on a shared potential; a first monitoring circuit, which is situated between the input terminal and the converter circuit to detect a current flow into the converter circuit; a second monitoring circuit, which is situated between the output terminal and the converter circuit to detect a current flow into the converter circuit; a first separation element, which is situated between the input terminal and the converter circuit to establish a connection between the input terminal and the converter circuit and/or a second separation element, which is situated between the output terminal and the converter circuit, to establish a connection between the output terminal and the converter circuit.

Method and device for monitoring a converter

A DC/DC converter for providing an output voltage includes: a connected DC voltage transformer; a supply voltage input for providing a first supply potential and a second supply potential to the DC voltage transformer; a potential point which is connectable to the second supply potential as a function of an activation state of the DC voltage transformer; an output capacitor which is connected to an output connection and to the potential point, and which is chargeable to the output voltage by activating the DC voltage transformer, and at which an output potential is tappable. The output voltage is provided between the output potential and the second supply potential.

DC/DC converter

A method for improving the resolution of an A/D converter and/or a converter system having an S/H device and an A/D converter is described. In order to improve the resolution of the A/D converter, an auxiliary signal is superposed on an analog signal, and the superposed signal is sampled and converted into digital output values using the A/D converter. Based on the digital output values, it is possible to determine an output value having higher resolution, e.g., by averaging.

A controlled rectifier bridge for a generator having a plurality of phase windings and one exciter winding is constructed as a self-controlled rectifier bridge with MOS field effect transistor. To allow the use of such a rectifier bridge upon a fast load reduction with an attendant load-dump voltage, a voltage protection circuit is employed that feeds the energy, stored in the exciter winding upon a fast shutoff, back into the battery, thus deexciting the exciter winding. Upon a fast load reduction, the generator windings are short-circuited by suitable triggering of the low- or high-side transistors.

Controlled rectifier bridge with over-voltage protection

A multi-voltage electrical system for a vehicle is described, which includes a generator and a voltage regulator; the voltage regulator regulates the output voltage of the generator to predeterminable values by varying the exciter current. Connected downstream of the generator are two rectifier arrangements, which lead to a terminal (B ) and a terminal (B ), respectively. At least the rectifier arrangement leading to the terminal having the lower voltage is designed as a controllable rectifier and is triggered by the voltage regulator in such a way that the desired voltage (UB &plus;) occurs. The other rectifier arrangement leads to the terminal (B &plus;), at which a higher voltage occurs, by suitable regulation of the exciter current. The controllable rectifier arrangement preferably includes six MOS field effect transistors.

Multi-voltage vehicle electric system

A control device for an on-board electrical system with at least two batteries which can be charged by a generator and serve to supply various consumers is described. This control device is located between the two batteries and includes a supply network element, a bus-capable microcomputer, a direct voltage converter, and a short circuit proof end stage. The control device is supplied with information via various terminals, and via other terminals the control device can output control signals. As a function of predeterminable data, the on-board electrical system control device closes the connection between the two batteries and after being switched off enters a &ldquo;sleep mode&rdquo;.
