A connector assembly has a connector part and a cable manager part. The cable manager part can be provided with a separable lacing fixture that functions to retain the severed portions of the wires that result from the termination process, rather than allowing the severed wire portions to fall to the floor in an uncollected state. In one aspect, the cable manager part has a main body to which the separable lacing fixture is attached via a plurality of breakaway portions.

A connector assembly () is disclosed in which a connector part () and a cable manager part () are provided. The cable manager part () can be provided with a separable lacing fixture () that functions to retain the severed portions () of the wires () that result from the termination process, rather than allowing the severed wire portions () to fall to the floor in an uncollected state. In one aspect, the cable manager part () has a main body () to which the separable lacing fixture () is attached via a plurality of breakaway portions (). During installation, the connector part () is inserted onto the cable manager part () and is placed in a wire termination tool () which fully inserts the connector part () onto the cable manager part (). This action causes the connector part () to cut the wires () and to sever or break the breakaway portions () such that the separable lacing fixture () is separated from the fully formed connector ().

Telecommunications jacks and methods of their use and construction are described. One telecommunications jack is adapted to receive a plug, and includes a housing defining a port for receiving the plug, as well as consecutively arranged contact springs adapted to make electrical contact with the plug when the plug is inserted into the port of the housing along a first axis. The jack includes wire termination contacts for terminating wires to the jack, and a circuit board arrangement including first and second circuits, the circuit board arrangement including a circuit board moveable in a direction non-parallel with the first axis between first and second positions. In the first position the circuit board electrically connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a first configuration, and in the second position the circuit board connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a second configuration.

Telecommunications jacks and methods of their use and construction are described. One telecommunications jack is adapted to receive a plug, and includes a housing defining a port for receiving the plug, as well as first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth consecutively arranged contact springs adapted to make electrical contact with the plug when the plug is inserted into the port of the housing along a first axis. The jack includes first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth wire termination contacts for terminating wires to the jack, and a circuit board arrangement including first and second circuits, the circuit board arrangement including a circuit board moveable in a direction non-parallel with the first axis between first and second positions. In the first position the circuit board electrically connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a first configuration, and in the second position the circuit board connects contact springs to wire termination contacts in a second configuration.

A hand tool for terminating and checking comprising a body which defines a means of storage of a connector to be terminated; an electrical checking module may be housed in the body, and is configured to electrically check the terminated connector when a connector pusher element is inserted in the terminated connector in the close or final position.

A plug and jack adapted to fit together with the plug releasably secured in the jack by detent means, so that plug electrical contacts carried by the plug are in electrical connection with jack electrical contacts carried by the jack, wherein spring means are provided which act between the plug and the jack to limit or eliminate movement of the secured plug relative to the jack.
