Physiologically acceptable films, including edible films, are disclosed. The films include a water soluble film-forming polymer such as pullulan. Edible films are disclosed that include pullulan and antimicrobially effective amounts of the essential oils thymol, methyl salicylate, eucalyptol and menthol. The edible films are effective at killing the plaque-producing germs that cause dental plaque, gingivitis and bad breath. The film can also contain pharmaceutically active agents. Methods for producing the films are also disclosed.

Fast dissolving orally consumable films

The present invention is directed to pharmaceutical compositions containing triprolidine and an ionic additive that improves the measured availability of the triprolidine in the tablet, as indicated by standard USP assay for triprolidine in pharmaceutical compositions. The invention also provides a process for producing compositions having improved triprolidine availability and a process for improving the performance of a pharmaceutical composition in a dissolution assay measuring triprolidine availability. The ionic additive can be, for example, an alkali metal salt, such as sodium chloride or potassium chloride.

Dissolution of triprolidine hydrochloride

A two color, partially encapsulated medicament that is both tamper resistant and tamper evident comprises at least one pharmaceutically active ingredient, suitable carrier materials and excipients that are compressed into an ovoid, generally cylindrical caplet that is partially encapsulated by its insertion into the body or cap portion of a gelatin capsule.
