Mechanisms and system for continuously producing pieces of liquid-filled gum. A rope of gum produced by an extrusion machine is cooled, sized, and separated into individual pieces of gum. A rotating drum mechanism and continuous chain mechanism having mating die groove members separate the rope of gum material into individual pieces and form the pieces into their final size and shape. Pairs of cam-operated plunger members positioned in the rotating drum mechanism compress and form the pieces of gum material in the dies. Cooling air supplied by tubular members positioned adjacent the drum mechanism and chain mechanism keep the gum material in a cooled condition for ease of processing. Features assisting the separation of the formed pieces of gum material from the operating machinery include regulation of balanced cooling, blasts of cooling air, and releasable die groove members.

Method and apparatus for continuously forming center-filled gum

This invention relates to a conveyor means for simultaneously advancing and twisting a plurality of strands into a rope and the process for utilizing these means. The conveyor includes an elongated trough with two walls which are joined to define the linear path. The first wall includes the plurality of aligned rollers having access of rotating with a predetermined angular relationship relative to horizontal and vertical planes as well as a power means for driving the rollers in unison and means for feeding the strands into the trough and in frictional contact with the rollers.

Method and apparatus for twisting and advancing strand material

A chewing gum composition and process whereby the process comprises softening the base between a temperature range of about 40.degree. C. to about 60.degree. C.; admixing softening agents, sweetening agents and flavoring agents; extruding the composition prior to cooling; forming the composition into suitable chewing gum pieces without cooling; and immediately wrapping the pieces with a minimum of protective wrapping without prior conditioning. No moisture or moisture-containing ingredients are used in the process or added to the ingredients and the chewing gum composition has a final moisture content of up to about 0.9% by weight.

Non-staling chewing gum compositions and improved method of preparation

A chewing gum composition and process whereby the process comprises softening the base between a temperature range of about 40.degree. C. to about 60.degree.
