A transducer assembly for a proximity sensor which comprises an elongated polymer piezoelectric film (16). The film is supported as an elongated series of arcuate segments which are curved in the same direction and have the same radius of curvature. Electrodes (18) on both sides of the piezoelectric film form opposed pairs, each pair being associated with a respective arcuate segment. The electrodes are utilized for applying a varying electric field across the thickness of the film to cause an ultrasonic acoustic wave to be radiated from the film.

Proximity sensor utilizing polymer piezoelectric film

A coupling connector is disclosed that electrically interconnects conductors contained in components of modular systems such as modular wiring or strip lighting systems, or the like. The coupling connector includes a pair of connector ends interconnected by at least one conductor, the ends of which terminate in conductive gel. Each connector end is firmly attached to surfaces of the components to be interconnected so that the conductive gel contacts the conductors contained within the components where the conductors intersect the components surface. Moisture resistant seals are arranged to seal the areas of contact from the elements. A cover is provided which is removably attached to the two connector ends to provide a relatively rigid structure. The cover is removable to provide access for disassembling the coupling connector.

Surface mount coupling connector

A high density connector (10) for electrically interconnecting conductive paths (14, 84) on close centers between circuit boards such as those of a backpanel (82) and daughter cards (12), includes a clamping mechanism (18, 20) bolted first to a daughter card and then to a backpanel to compress springs (46, 48, 50) held by the mechanism driving flat flexible circuits (52) having contacts (68, 70) on close centers to engage board circuit paths, where the mechanism (18, 20) is rigid and includes spring driven clamps (42) to straighten the daughter card and strain relief the interconnection area. The flexible circuit contacts (68, 70) are offset relative to the springs (48, 50) bearing area to provide a contact wipe of the contact path interconnection.

High density backplane connector

An electrical packaging system, preferably a fluorescent lamp assembly, includes an assembly (10) having a housing (12) with a planar base (14) carrying affixed thereto a flat, flexible circuit (50) with holes (52) exposing conductors (56). Spacially disposed components (28, 40) are affixed to the housing with terminals extending to bear against a resilient conductive member (38, 44) to interconnect components to the circuit. The conductive medium may be bonded to either the terminals or to the circuit to facilitate handling.

Electrical packaging system and components therefor

An electrical connector (39) provides high density interconnections through contact paths of printed circuit pads (12, 31) via flexible circuit (22) having contact pads (26, 28) driven by a canted coil spring (40) formed of a shape memory alloy selectively responsive to variations in temperature applied to the coil through a medium, heated or cooled and supplied via passage (62) in the connector.

An interposing connector for interconnecting a pattern of conductive areas of opposing spaced apart surfaces. The connector includes a housing having one or more openings therethrough. A plurality of canted coil springs are positioned within the housing so that outer coil portions are exposed to engage the conductive areas of the opposing surfaces to thereby establish the electrical interconnection. The canted coil springs are secured to the housing by retaining means, such as a retainer strip extending through the springs and secured to the housing. The springs may also be secured by heat staking or laser welding a portion thereof to the housing. The canted coil springs have a relatively constant compliance over a range of radial deflection. The springs also produce contact wipe over the conductive areas and establish redundant contact points therewith.

An electrical connector (30) includes a body (34) of elastomeric material having cavities (38) containing a conductive gel operable upon deformation of the body of said connector to interconnect conductive pads (16, 22) between components such as a printed circuit board (12) and a chip carrier (20).

Conductive gel area array connector

An electrical connector (10,50,50',84,84') for being positioned between parallel surfaces and electrically interconnecting conductive areas on the surfaces is disclosed. More particularly, the connector (10,50,50',84,84') includes a housing (12,52,52',86) and contact elements (14,14',14',70,104) which are formed by wrapping a flexible, circuit carrying film (20,72) around a single canted coil spring (18) or by wrapping a flexible circuit carrying film (104) around two spaced apart canted coil springs (18).

Electrical connector for electrically interconnecting two parallel

A card edge connector with flexible printed circuit film. More particularly a card edge connector for electrically interconnecting circuits on two circuit boards through flexible printed circuit film mounted in the connector and with the contact pads thereon being biased outwardly by coil springs behind the contact pads.

Electrical connector

A method and connector are disclosed for terminating woven cable formed by a box woven yarn carrying a plurality of magnet wire conductors in a high density parallel spaced array. The cable is preformed with terminating areas in which the magnet wire is freed of the weave. The connector includes a base member, which receives the cable and positions the ground wires, an intermediate member including first ground terminals receiving the ground wires in the base member and receiving the signal wires thereon in a spaced array, and a mating member carrying second signal terminals for engaging respective signal wires and selective ground terminals for programming ground interconnect for the connector.
