The invention comprises a means for generating energy while walking or running for storage in a rechargeable battery. One embodiment uses lever arm movement in the heel of a shoe resulting from normal walking or running to generate energy from a built-in generator. The linear or rotational motion of the lever arm engages the circular gear assembly and turns the generator/motor/turbine, thus generating power. The second embodiment uses fluid reservoirs embedded in the shoes. Pressure changes resulting from normal walking or running moves the fluid through a narrow channel connecting two reservoirs, thus generating power by rotating a flywheel and an attached motor/generator/turbine in the middle of the channel. Secondary (rechargeable) batteries are incorporated into the invention either in an integrated form or as an add-on design. Additional features include a digital diagnostic data output, which would serves as a &ldquo;fuel gauge&rdquo; for the secondary batteries, and a smart charging circuit that efficiently controls battery charging from a generator output that varies with step rate and force.

Rechargeable shoe

A method and apparatus for removing gas bubbles from the fluid handling system of a medication infusion system is disclosed. Specifically, the invention discloses a method for removing fluid and/or gas bubbles from fluid reservoir and pumping chamber. The present invention utilizes a fluid pump of a single valve positive displacement design with the pump chamber in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir.

The invention relates generally to an improved system for sensing and compensating for external disturbance forces acting on a satellite while in orbit. A proof mass member is housed within an enclosure and shielded from external, non-gravitational forces. The proof mass is electromagnetically levitated to move in a purely gravitational orbit, along an axis aligned with the satellite's velocity vector. The proof mass is subjected to a controlled magnetic biasing field and is caused to have a constant reaction to the resultant biasing force, by means of a thermal control system which maintains constant resistivity of the proof mass, during operation. The position of the proof mass with respect to its axis is detected optically and is utilized to control the firing of spacecraft thrusters. As a result, the satellite is caused to maintain a substantially constant position relative to the proof mass and thereby also is caused to follow a purely gravitational orbit.
