Wetting and anti-foaming agent

A wetting agent according to Formula (I): wherein Ris selected from a branched alkyl group or linear alkyl group or a cycloaliphatic group or an aromatic group, each having 6 to 15 carbon atoms; Ris selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; Ris selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; Ris selected from hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; Ris selected from methyl or ethyl; x ranges from 0 to 5; y ranges from 0 to 10; z ranges from 1 to 10; with the proviso that when x ranges from 1 to 5, Ris different from R; and with the proviso that when x=0, Ris different from R. The wetting agent also imparts anti-foam properties to aqueous solutions while reducing surface tension.

A composition comprising linked segments of: (a) a polyhydroxy segment derived from a compound independently selected an acyclic polyhydric alcohol having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and 4 to 6 reactive hydroxyl groups; a cyclic polyhydric alcohol having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and 4 to 6 reactive hydroxyl groups, a poly(hydroxyethyl) polyethyleneamine having 4 to 6 reactive hydroxyl groups and combinations thereof; (b) polyoxyalkylene segments wherein each hydroxyl group of the polyhydroxyl segment is linked to a polyoxyalkylene segment; (d) and aliphatic end segments or aromatic end segments, each end segment having 6 to 32 carbon atoms and a hydroxyl reactive group, wherein the mole ratio of the polyoxyalkylene segment to the polyhydroxy segment is at least 4:1 and the mole ratio of the aliphatic or aromatic end segment to the polyhydroxy segment is at least 0.25:1.

ICI thickener composition and uses

A composition and method of fracturing a subterranean formation. The composition includes: about 0.25 wt. % to about 3.0 wt. %, based on a weight of the hydrocarbon liquid, of a mixture of phosphate esters, said esters selected from the group consisting of: monoester PO(OR)(OH), PO(OR)(OH); diester PO(OH)(OR)(OR)where m=0, 1, or 2; triester PO(OH)(OR)(OR)where n=0, 1, 2 or 3; and phosphoric acid HPOwherein Rand Reach have 2 to 18 carbon atoms; and about 0.2 wt. % to about 1.0 wt. %, based on the weight of the hydrocarbon liquid, of an acidic polynuclear aluminum compound having an Al:Cl mole ratio ranging from about 1.40:1 to about 2.2:1. The composition is added to a hydrocarbon liquid to fracture the subterranean formation with this hydrocarbon liquid. The hydrocarbon liquid containing the composition exhibits a substantially constant viscosity.
