A bandage has a first sheet overlying a wound and located adjacent to it and a top sheet overlying the first sheet. The first sheet has a plurality of discrete passageways overlying the wound and adapted to communicate negative pressure established by a negative pressure source to the wound.

A proton beam delivery system including a proton beam nozzle to emit a proton beam to a targeted region of a patient, a gantry wheel to support the proton beam nozzle, the gantry wheel being configured to rotate the proton beam nozzle about a rotation axis of the gantry wheel such that the proton beam nozzle emits the proton beam to an isocenter of the gantry wheel corresponding to the targeted region, a beamline deflector configured to be rotated by the gantry wheel to transport the proton beam along a curvilinear path from the rotation axis to the proton beam nozzle using a predetermined power setting of the beamline deflector, and a rigid support structure to support the beamline deflector when the gantry wheel is rotated such that the beam nozzle directs the proton beam to the isocenter from a plurality of radial directions using the same predetermined power setting.

A wound treatment apparatus comprises: a fluid drainage tube configured to be coupled to a fluid drainage passageway of a wound bandage; first and second fluid drainage receptacles coupled to the drainage tube; and first and second valves coupled between the fluid drainage tube and the first and second fluid drainage receptacles, respectively.

A wound treatment apparatus for treatment of surface wounds with a bandage system configured to control the environment adjacent the wound. The apparatus includes a bandage configured to cover a wound and provide a seal about the perimeter of the wound and cavity over the wound. A fluid supply conduit and a fluid drainage conduit are each in communication with the cavity. A nebulizer is coupled to the supply conduit to supply medicinal fluid to the wound. A waste receptacle is coupled to the drainage conduit to remove the fluid away from the wound.

A rail system for supporting a patient gantry including a fixed rail assembly mounted on a support surface and a service rail assembly releasably securable to the fixed rail assembly. Each rail assembly includes a bar and a top rail. An alignment device is provided for aligning the top rails of each assembly and is configured so that the rails cannot be interchanged. A lever is provided for positively securing the service rail assembly to either the fixed rail assembly or in a first receptor defined by a mounting block secured to a bearing block and on which is mounted the patient gantry. A toggle clamp includes a pin selectively received in a locating hole defined in the fixed rail assembly. If the toggle clamp has not been engaged and the lever does not engage the first receptor, the lever is received by a second receptor to prevent derailment.

Rail system for supporting and moving a patient gantry

A patient bed for use with at least one imaging device in which a plurality of scans to be correlated are performed, as well as in a continuous motion scanner used to compile whole-body scans. The patient bed includes a horizontal rail base and a movable patient surface. Electronic controllers are provided for controlling the horizontal and vertical positioning of the patient surface. The horizontal rail base is secured to the support proximate the scanner. A linear motor is used to generate horizontal motion of the patient bed. The linear motor is controlled using a motion controller in communication with a computer associated with the imaging device. A pedestal is provided for mounting a vertical carriage assembly. A vertical track is carried by the pedestal for controlling vertical travel of the patient bed. A motor is provided for controlling vertical motion. A pallet support member is cantilevered from the vertical carriage assembly for carrying a pallet.

A control system for use with a vacuum bandage over a wound includes a vacuum pump, a waste canister operably coupled to the pump, and a fluid source. The canister is coupled to the bandage such that, when a vacuum is applied to the canister, the vacuum is applied to the bandage. The fluid source is coupled to the bandage to selectively introduce fluid into the wound.
